"Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story. You can't make something like The Dark Knight and then come out with something disappointing.

"I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie.' I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me. The fact is, I have to! I've signed up! Chris doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to!"

“With technology, there’s a balance with everything. In The Dark Knight, the triangulation and the mobile phones, when Batman asks Lucius to use it, Lucius says, ‘After this I will quit. I will not have anything to do with this.’

“It’s like the eavesdropping, the illegal wire tapping going on at the NSA. There are limits… It is technology. But as with anything, it should all be in moderation…”

*cue whining and incessant panic in 5, 4, 3 ...*

However, it's good to see Bale with that zeal to deliver the goods again.

Well it makes sense why WB is being patient with Nolan.

Nolan delivered the most successful comic adaptation to date. I don't think they want to pressure Nolan into anything that might cause him to not direct the third film.

Warner Brothers is pretty much giving him the time and space as to not lose one of their most valuable assets. I think its a pretty smart move on WB part actually.

I highly doubt that Warner would progress without Nolan on board.

They'll give Nolan all the time possible to make a decision. They sure won't badger him. However, they'll be a third film with or without him. The financial prospects are too good to otherwise turn down. In the wake of TDK's overwhelming success, I have beyond a hard time seeing WB being content to cap the franchise there.

I absolutely agree.

If Nolan for some reason happens to not return to direct the third film WB wouldn't just wrap up the franchise and call it quits. As much as I love Nolans take and would prefer for him to come back and helm the project, I would still like to see a third Batman film regardless.

As the saying goes "The show must go on".

I'd like everyone back in full too. Much like Bale, I want someone to stomp on the 'third movie curse'. The path they'd take to redeem or reestablish Batman, or whatever the plot would be, also intrigues.

If there's a team that can break that curse I definitely think its Nolan & company.

Wasn't Nolan signed on for the thrid one anyway? I seem to remember such news.

Jesus, what's with the thread title? You're like a bad newspaper or website begging for attention. Bale was probably laughing when he said this, and people like you, and website all over a re going to jump on it like he doesn't want to do a third movie. That's what' wrong with the internet.

You need to calm down. Try contributing towards the discussion instead of pointlessly insulting other members who are just trying to bring news.

No one ever said he doesn't want to do a third Batman film either. Thats only your own implication. Try reading the interview will you.

I can live without a 3rd one. It's not like we were left with a cliffhanger or something..

I don't think its even a matter of necessity to continue the story at this point. Its more about money now. The franchise has proved to be extremely profitable.

WB profited greatly off this second film. Do you honestly believe they'd dump the franchise because a director might not return?

The third film will progress either way but the fact that WB is giving Nolan the necessary time and space to figure out what to do next is definitely the right move.

Other studios would be far more impatient and rush into production (*cough* Fox with the third X-Men film).

In retrospect, I don't know how I skipped over it. I recall posting in a thread about it.

Batman-on-Film has found out from three separate sources that Nolan's recent deal with Warners for the film "Inception" includes an agreement between the studio and himself to helm his second sequel to "Batman Begins."

This means that Warner Bros is more than happy to fund Nolan's "Inception" as long as he directs a third Batman film.

I think Nolan will come back, I think Bale is just saying what he said in homage to what Nolan has done. Like no one else can touch what he's done. As if Nolan brought them this far so why would he be happy with anyone else. He' right.

They'll be back for the third one.

Aren't these contract a bit loose when it comes to actually ensuring an actor or directors return.

This is a little different but Terrence Howard was signed on to return for the second Iron Man film but Marvel despite their contract agreement still re casted Don Cheadle as Rhodes.

So I'm not sure how binding these contracts actually are.

I believe it's the seventh film in the franchise. I'm not saying that to be a *****e. I'm saying it to illustrate the WB's commitment to the franchise.

With or without. There will be a 7th film.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Thread title misinterprets Bale's intentions

Slashfilm's WB source says otherwise apparently on the Inception deal being part of the third batman film (7th in general)

Their response to the "Inception/Batman" deal.

"Not true at all... My WB sources tell me that Nolan is currently not signed for a third batman film. Inception was a deal in itself."

Yeah Nolan will be back, he wouldn't let anyone else touch his empire.

If Nolan doesn't come back, it'll be proof that the third movie curse does exist. :csad:

They can only go down from TDK.

Im not the films biggest fan but it had everything going for it most importantly the Joker batmans most famous foe and like it or not Ledgers tradgic death before release.

They killed Twoface:cmad::cmad: before he really had time to shine imo (Nolans biggest mistake in the franchise) so the only logical villains left are Catwoman and Riddler both good rogues but not half as interesting as Joker and Twoface.

There is the Riddler, the Ventriloquist/Scarface, Penguin, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Clayface (with some serious reinvention), and there is Harley Quinn and of course Joker for the grand finale.

The Dark Knight was about Harvey Dent/Two-Face and that story was masterfully done and it's done.
