Just thought I'd open a thread to share songs that you may like. You don't have to be a believer, there are some really good songs out there that can stand on their own I think. So let's hear them...

This is a new group that I like called Demon Hunter...
This one is called Thorns.

very reminiscent of the CrashTestDummies group...

Another fairly new group NeedToBreathe...
This one's called Lay 'Em Down

Washed by the Water is cool too

Spirit In The Sky By Norman Greenbaum

I never got into "christian" music that much because it was mostly marketed as "hey, if you like these secular artists, check out these guys who sound like them but they love jesus so you won't go to hell if you listen to them". Also, some of the artists seemed to be preachy with their lyrics.

That being said, I still like to pop in Circle of Dust (and the various side projects of Klayton), and Galactic Cowboys.

P.O.D - Alive
Decyfer Down - Fight Like This
Mercy Me - I can only Imagine

Anything by Flyleaf, especially All Around Me, Beautiful Bride, Again, and Circle.

I know Creed isn't a christian band per se. But all of their songs have strong christian imagery and lyrics.

However, Creed and Stryper are two of my favorite bands.

I listened to some POD and Creed, but what I used to love was Amy Grant (who was considered to be somewhat of a revolutionary by gospel music's standard). Her landmark album Age to Age is still one of my favorites.

Pretty much anything by these bands:

Duvall
Five Iron Frenzy
Further Seems Forever
Mae
Mewithoutyou
Mute Math
MxPx (Christian-ish)
Project 86
Relient K
Showbread

Really, there are a lot of decent to good Christian bands out there if you look past the mainstream.

I like Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival
[YT]FgFjLB4VYSU[/YT]

do Blindside count? I love "All of us" and "Ask me now"

Bob Dylan did some pretty good Christian songs back when he was Born Again. Pressing On is probably my favorite.

Johnny Cash was a master of gospel music. Disc II of his Personal Records album is beautiful.

King's X has made some excellent stuff, though they don't consider themselves as a christian band.

I always really liked The Cross Movement for Christian hip-hop

I also like some songs by Newsboys

[YT]twuLr5rQmp0[/YT]

Michael W. Smith, and DC Talk.

These are all pretty awesome. Even the music videos.

I listen to a lot of Christian music, as well as "secular" music, but I pretty much listen to much of the stuff from the following Christian bands:

The Afters
Anberlin
Audio Adrenaline
BarlowGirl
DC Talk
Delirious?
Downhere
Flyleaf
Fireflight
Hawk Nelson
House of Heroes
Jon McLaughlin
Kutless
Leeland
Mae
Mat Kearney
Michael W. Smith
Relient K
Sanctus Real
Sixpence None The Richer
Skillet
Switchfoot
Third Day
Thousand Foot Krutch

There are more but I don't want the list to become a book. Also, there are a great amount of really good bands in the "Christian" world of music, especially recently.

NeedToBreathe is the best in Christian music to me, by a long shot. The new album (The Outsiders) is brilliant.

MercyMe and Switchfoot have some good stuff, I used to love Third Day but not so much anymore, Casting Crowns are decent. Oh and Matt Kearney's good too.

Flyleaf and Skillet are Christian bands?

Flyleaf and Skillet are Christian bands?

Yes, both are sold in Christian stores, reviewed by Christian websites, and profess to be Christians...so yeah, they are. lol. Luckily they both also have a following in the mainstream, which is great as their music can cross all boundaries.
