A lot of people tend to hate on song covers saying that they'll not as great as the originals, but every now and then you get some that are actually better than the original songs. So what are some that you think are actually great?

For me, I heard this part song on a podcast, it was a cover of Iron Man done by The Cardigans. I downloaded the song and I have to say I really like it, it's like a really mellow version of the song.

Most of the covers Marilyn Manson has done are pretty good. My overall favorite has to be Nirvana's version of "The Man Who Sold the World". A few others that I like: (since I have plenty o' time to spare)

Land of Confusion - Disturbed
Along Comes Mary - Bloodhound Gang
Who Wants To Live Forever - Breaking Benjamin
Baker Street - Foo Fighters
Working Class Hero - Green Day
Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam, Lake of Fire - Nirvana
Under My Thumb - Social Distortion
Landslide - Smashing Pumpkins
Wicked Game - HIM
Whiskey In the Jar, Turn the Page & Tuesday's Gone - Metallica
Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
Gouge Away - Papa Roach

And one from the ol' days: Faith - Limp Bizkit

The lounge version of Down with the Sickness that was used for the Dawn of the Dead remake.

I like Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower better than Dylan's.

 no doubt, that's what I was gonna put. In fact most of Dylan's songs are better done by someone else ala Knocking on Heaven's Door.

I like Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower better than Dylan's.

I think that's the universal opinion. Even Dylan said it was better than his version and he plays Jimi's version when he performs.

Anyway, here's my picks:

-Pretty much any cover Janis Joplin did was a thousand times better than the original. Piece of my Heart, Summertime and Ball and Chain are like completely different songs when she did it.

-The Man Who Sold the World covered by Nirvana is so much more emotional and deep than Bowie's version.

Santana's cover of "She's Not There" by the Zombies is superb.
Aretha Franklin's cover of "Respect" is just classic. I don't even remember whose song it was originally. Some dude, I think.

Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam, Lake of Fire - Nirvana
Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
And one from the ol' days: Faith - Limp Bizkit

i like these too

i also like India Arie's cover of Don Henley's The Heart of the Matter.

I gotta say Seether's cover of Wham's Never Gonna Dance Again works surprisingly well. Yes, I said a rock band covered a Wham song.
