Rebecca Hall stars in director Antonio Campos’ third feature film, CHRISTINE, the story of a woman who finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a spiraling personal life and career crisis. Christine, always the smartest person in the room at her local Sarasota, Florida news station, feels like she is destined for bigger things and is relentless in her pursuit of an on-air position in a larger market. As an aspiring newswoman with an eye for nuance and an interest in social justice, she finds herself constantly butting heads with her boss (Tracy Letts), who pushes for juicier stories that will drive up ratings. Plagued by self-doubt and a tumultuous home life, Christine’s diminishing hope begins to rise when an on-air co-worker (Michael C. Hall) initiates a friendship which ultimately becomes yet another unrequited love. Disillusioned as her world continues to close in on her, Christine takes a dark and surprising turn.

Based on true events, Campos’ intimate and sensitive portrait of a woman on the brink is grounded by Hall’s impeccable and transformative performance as Christine. Rounding out the supporting cast are superlative performances by Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”), Tracy Letts (“Homeland,” Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright), Maria Dizzia (“Orange Is The New Black”), Timothy Simons (“Veep”) and J. Smith-Cameron (“Margaret”).

Upon seeing the thread title I thought this was a remake of the 1983 horror film.

Looks interesting.

I thought it was about the car. :(

I want a remake of that movie!

disappointed and relieved that this isn't the haunted car movie.

This is on Netflix and I was really impressed by this.

It's one of those movies that make me remember how silly awards can be when this wasn't nominated for any major one.
Rebecca Hall not only gives the best performance from an actress I've seen in a long time, but one of the best performances I've seen period.

Very strong movie. Incredibly strong performance. Wish this got more love. It deserves it.

It's ridiculous that Rebecca Hall wasn't nominated for an Oscar last year for this.

Beyond ridiculous. After watching this on Thursday I am blown away by the snub. I really can't think of an actress performance that year that was on Hall's level.

I must have ranted on twitter for weeks after I saw this film and she got nothing for it. I really wish the studio had campaigned this more. I'll never not be bitter about it.

They probably ran out of money. That's the dumb thing about campaigning if they run out of money to book ads, fly the talent everywhere, etc. then something can be overlooked.
It happened to poor Kate Beckinsale, she was finally gonna be recognized for her skills with a movie called Nothing But the Truth back in 08. A lot of people were citing her for a Best Actress nod. But the studio that made the film went bankrupt which caused the movie to not be released theatrically and then she couldn't even campaign

That probably is it, and it's a shame. It started streaming right before the Oscars too so that made it even more painfully aware how it should be nominated.
