Documentary/Biopic Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Per Charlie Jatinder, Monday looks like a nice hold around $13 million. Crossing 100 domestic tomorrow.

Just saw it and loved it. I need to see it again because it was so dense.

Did I read this scene right?

Per Nolan, the color scenes are subjective from Oppy’s POV and the black and white scenes are supposed to be objective.

In the scene where they’re at the dinner table having a last minute committee meeting, it’s in black and white and it shows Strauss and Oppy being combative with each other. Strauss moves the flowers on the table to the side to talk to Dane DeHaan’s character (Nichols) but still blocks other people at the table.

Later they show this same scene in color. This time the flowers are moved off the table and Strauss is much nicer to Oppy. The movie later shows Oppy’s naïveté and since this is his POV he doesn’t suspect Strauss holds a grudge against him and sees Strauss in more sympathetic light. Oppy is nicer too here since he probably sees himself how we all see ourselves in a brighter way when he’s supposed to be arrogant objectively.

I had never heard her voice before... and now I know what the personification of nails on a chalkboard sounds like. Also, I genuinely love how she's scolding Christopher Nolan of all people on filmmaking 101 with a take that's incredibly, objectively, phenomenally wrong on every level. :funny:

Still bummed we didn't get a reciprocal "Got my tickets" photo from Nolan and Cillian and/or RDJ in front of Barbie and MI7

Did the Barbenheimer yesterday with some friends. First time since No Way Home I've made the effort to go see it in theaters. I was bummed I couldn't get IMAX 70mm tickets, but I was completely engrossed nonetheless. Just absolutely amazing from start to finish.

I honestly don't understand how she has an audience. Who willingly wants to listen to that? It'd be like some sorta form of self-punishment. She's definitely playing the hate-clicks game. We really shouldn't give it oxygen.

Yeah it’s crazy that people actually watch and listen to her.

To be honest, I never heard of her until people here start posting how horrible she is. I think hate watching keeps her in business.
Yep, same. I’ve never watched any of this stuff and don’t plan to start.

Margot Robbie and/or Ryan Gosling in a Nolan movie when? :o
Yes! The perfect Ken.

After Oppenheimer he wants something to truly test his acting credentials.

Yup, she has an audience because people keeping talking about her and hate watching her to hear the ridiculous and stupid things she has to say. We truly live in an era where all publicity is good publicity, which is why folks respectfully need to stop linking to her videos here. If we all ignore her, her schtick fails and she stops getting the views she needs to make money.

Folks like me? Chill out man it’s not that serious. I just found it insane how ridiculous she sounds.

Sorry, I think you misunderstand the tone of my post. I am chill. I just used your post as an example since you most recently posted her video on the previous page, which is why I said "respectfully". Naturally, my comments were more directed to those who hate watch her stuff and then link to it. They are just feeding what they loathe. I've edited the post to clarify,

You have to laugh at "filmmaking 101" being about not having an unlikable character as your main character. Tony Soprano and Walter White would like a word, ma'am.

Anyways, loved Oppenheimer. Nolan can stay away from directing love scenes though. They were very one sided. He should've taken a page from whoever directed Cillian in Peaky Blinders. Now those were glorious.

I have to say, Young Han Solo made me laugh. Usually that actor is so boring to me, but I liked his bit with Downey in this!

Grace just discredited Scorsese’s entire career with her statement. Good thing she has no weight behind her opinion tho.

And now somehow even less weight than before revealing such an asinine way to look at movies.

I'm in awe of what Ludwig did with this score. It's literally just been in my head nonstop since seeing the movie. He really stepped up to the plate.
