Documentary/Biopic Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Unfortunately a lot of people still give her positive attention (on Xwitter, at least). The amount of times I've read some of her defenders calling her "mother". :barf:

According to Deadline.com, Oppenheimer grossed ~$30M in China for its first five days of release. Nowadays, I guess that’s considered pretty decent. So it’s possible that China could give a new boost to the overall numbers. (Current WW total is $852M.) Still hasn’t opened in Japan. But if/when that happens, the BO there might not amount to much...

Nice boost from China. I guess even small amounts from markets opening this late would be a good boost compared to the lower earnings at this stage.

Oppenheimer deserves it way more than Bohemian Rhapsody did. How that movie ever won Best Editing is beyond me.
Apart from Rami Malek giving a legitimately good performance I'm chalking up all the Oscars attention that Bohemian Rhapsody got to the Live Aid scenes and the music of Queen lulling the viewer into thinking it was a better movie than it was.

So far beyond expectations! I'm really glad to see general audiences be up for something like this.

Trinity Site, where first atomic blast was set off, opens for one day in October | CNN

"Trinity Site opens only two Saturdays a year. Once in April, and lucky for “Oppenheimer” enthusiasts, again in October. ...The open house event, hosted by the US Army, is free but limited to the first 5,000 guests, on a first-come, first-served basis."

Uni. will definitely be re-releasing this around award season to try and give it that push to a bil.

I speculated that Oppenheimer might do just as well as Dunkirk at the BO (~$500M). And for a 3-hour drama, that would be an impressive success.

+$900M is astonishing.

I was thinking the same thing, more or less. I knew it would do well but I didn't think it would go on to be within striking distance of $1B just based on the subject material.

There was a time when I thought Tenet was going to be one of the most important films ever and save movie theaters. Instead, I think it turned out to be Oppenheimer.
