This is absolutely true. The film/comic book nerds like us were already familiar with his game but The Dark Knight was the one that made Nolan a household name and really put him on the map with general audiences.TDK will always be special because it set a new bar for the modern blockbuster that I think in some ways has remained the bar to this day. Even though it's his 6th film, it's kind of like Nolan's Jaws. There is just a very clear before and after with that film in terms of the trajectory of his career. And I think it will always be somewhat on a pedestal, because just how good it was genuinely blindsided people, whereas after that everything with his name on it has to carry that weight of huge expectations.
