Fantasy Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

Saw the teaser before Superman. It didn’t do much for me but… it’s a teaser. Actually I feel like Nolan has never been great with teasers. All the Batman ones were terrible IMO. I think Inception’s teaser is his only good one.

I feel the exact same way. I know in my bones we are going to get peak next summer, but this trailer was blegh. Looking forward to the next one in December.

Yeah I didn’t expect to see much but I thought we’d see… something lol.

I mean it did show much more than the first Oppenheimer, Tenet, Interstellar, TDK and TDKR teasers.

Expecting insane headlines.

"Odyssey has already sold more tickets than any movie in history this far out"
"Odyssey on track to sell a morbillion tickets next year"

So studios are just going to start selling tickets a whole year out from now on yeah? No way they just let this be a one-off after they’ve all sold out.

I was even up past midnight and went to bed without buying like a fool...FML. Nolan you dirty dog.

Hopefully they add more showtimes.

They definitely will be adding more showtimes once we get closer. Hell, they don’t even know what the runtime is yet lol

But this was a nice hype machine to say “Imax sells out within minutes a year before opening!”

But yeah; mostly it’s just 7pm showtimes so there will be more. Patience.

I've never agreed that Nolan would be a pretentious filmmaker, as read so many times online.
But I do find this year-ahead ticket sale for a film we've seen “nothing” about a little bit silly, if not cocky.

You could argue that it's just like a concert... but it's not? I don't know.
Maybe it's just the impression that this is a promotional move focused on ticket money rather than the film's promise that bothers me.

You want marketing to be confident. There's no point otherwise. And it worked already.

Don't pre-order video ga- Oh wait.

Hurts so much not seeing the Scotiabank in Montreal on those IMAX 70mm screenings lists anymore. :csad:
Same with the Scotiabank in Toronto. Now for some reason the two 70mm theatres in the GTA are in the middle of nowhere in the burbs.

I think this is an anomaly just because it's Nolan and it's specifically 70MM IMAX. Disney wouldn't even try this with Marvel, look at how frequently their films moved. Release dates shift too much for this to become the norm. In fact, studios may not be fully on board with it anyway because there's a real chance that movie ticket prices could continue to rise by this time next year, in which case they lose money selling tickets a year in advance.

Never seen a director with this much power. Maybe Spielberg at the height of his popularity, but this is whole new level of insane.
Don't compare the two. You'll upset cinephiles on here.
