Chrono Trigger returning.....for the DS!

Oh wow! Any pics or scans of it yet besides that teaser site?

Not yet...I'm hoping we get more info about it at E3...which is why I'm figuring they put up the teaser site....to get us ready.

Even though I would be more than ok with a strait up port, I'm hoping that they do the special edition treatment to it and add some new content...but please keep the sprites and don't try to make it 3-D...please Square.

Never played it but can't wait.

I'd like to see them port Super Mario RPG to the DS.

this is one game Ive always wanted to play but never got the chance to. I think I played like the first hour or so on the SNES but thats it

I don't care who does it, I just want portible Chrono Cross.

Right now your only option for that is to get a PSP and either

a) stream it onto the PSP via the PS3's remote play

or

b) get custom firmware and put the game on a memory stick

Rather it be Cross.

yuck.

Chrono Cross mucked with the storyline to the point of incomprehensability. The characters were bland, there were too many to make any real difference, and the magic system was boring and broken.

The only real pluses to the game were the pretty graphics and awesome soundtrack. We are getting the better deal with Chrono Trigger, with better story and characters on top of superior music.

but my gripes against it aside, it wouldn't surprise me if it hit PSP sometime soon...especially if this does well.

ALRIGHT!!!!!! After buying a Wii Nintendo is now forcing me to buy a DS... Very well Nintendo you've won this round... When's the release date for it as I have to get it ASAP... I've been craving it ever since my copy broke years ago on my old PS1.

EDIT: Holiday release...DAMMIT... I thought I kicked my cravings but they keep flooding back everytime I hear news of it...

Not if you paid attention.

The characters were bland

All the main characters were very fleshed out and a lot of the secondary characters either had really cool connections to Chrono Trigger or were cool in their own right. Plus

there were too many to make any real difference

No such thing as too many characters. You could play that game over and over without ever having the same party, and since each of these characters either added to the plot or had their own side-quests each playthrough was unique.

and the magic system was boring and broken.

I think you mean strategic. It was by no means broken. The color system made each move a game of probability. You had to take into account not just the moves in your party and how they would effect the grid, but also the enemies' moves. It was awesome. I'll take the stamina system over a linear system any day. I thought it was just as innovative as Chrono Trigger's was when it was released.

The only real pluses to the game were the pretty graphics and awesome soundtrack.

:heart::heart::heart:

This is true.

with better story and characters on top of superior music.

But not for these reasons.

Yeah, but there's Chrono Trigger ports everywhere. When's the last time anyones heard anything about Cross? I want a ****ing Cross remake damnit.

Chrono Cross was a good rpg, but it didnt even come close to chrono trigger. I cant wait for the rerelase on the ds.

Oooh, it looks like they're keeping the multiple endings. Awesome. I only got about half of the alternate endings the first time.

I'm slightly disappointed that it looks like a straight port. I'll still end up getting this though.:)

You bet your ass I'm buying this...hopefully it can lead to a real sequel as opposed to the mess that was Chrono Cross.
