February 9, 2006 - Marvel Comics has been teasing readers online and in print with their upcoming mini-series event, Civil War, and now there has been a date attached to it.

On Marvel.com, a wallpaper for Civil War was posted that reveals the in store date for Issue #1 to be May 3rd, just one week before DC's series 52 debuts.

Stay tuned to IGN Comics for more news on Civil War in the coming months.

whos blood is that on cap's shield?
anyway, pretty amazing art

That is good art. Interesting split. It's like Cap is torn between both sides. And Iron Man and Spider-Man are on opposite sides.

how the hell did yellowjacket make the cover!!!!!!!!! Ah well artwork looks cool!!! looking forward to it

Haha, yeah. What is Yellowjacket doing there.

What the heck is the MU fighting over anyway?

the government tries to introduce a mutant registration act that means every hero must make their secret identity public. Some Marvel heroes agree while some feel very strongly against it so a civil war is caused. It has something to do with a major tragedy in the near future involving a hero or something

That hardly sounds like a reason to fight with each other. Thanks though.

they probably spent three months coming up with the story and spent two seconds coming up with the reason

The Civil War might as well be about Wolverine and Iron Man's argument over whether or not "Bub" was a legal Scrabble word.

Im not buying into it also.A governmental registeration program?Where is S.H.I.E.L.D?Where is Nick Fury? This could easily be taken care off.

Just so you know,Joe Q decided to do a event to counter the successful Infinate Crisis.

I brought that up when this was first announced. Nobody had a good answer then either. :(

It's obviously going to be more complicated than that.

Let me guess Jormu,is this another one of your "I heard that BS BS BS" statements?

Just so you know,Fury doesn't head SHIELD anymore and SHIELD is corrupted up the arse with God knows what.

So until you know what you're talking about,go read your Crisis Shmisis.

Is anyone else noticing that things are pretty much split between team members and notorious longers?

Namor
DD
She-Hulk
Spidey
Wovie (But he can take a flying leap for all I care)

all for the greater parts of their careers have been doing it on their own.

FF
Yellowjacket
Iron-Man

All did their best wrok in teams. (Either FF or Avengers).

and Cap is the same. he started his time doing it on his own but has been widely known for working with the Avengers, the All-Stars or whoever.

They're also split by those who are out and those who aren't. The fact that the teams are together is a result of their celebrity.

^Then why is Wolverine on the side of those wanting to protect their secret identities?

I'm on whatever side the Punisher is involved with, if he's even going to be in it.

Anyone else ever notice that there's only 2 Runaways in that picture? If they split up over this, I'm a be pissed. Or, you know, maybe the group is just disbanding slowly, after
Karolina left
. Consider what'd happen if Molly didn't make it through her story arc, and if Victor doesn't make it through his (as a good guy, at least). Marvel could seal the deal by getting rid of Gert in the "Return of the Pride" story arc. It's too perfect of a plan, you know? I would seriously go ape**** insane.

Then again, in self- condolence, consider the fact that Gert met her future self in the beginning of the second volume, Molly's one of the 198 (Callisto would have to make new flags), and the Runaways have a team up on the horizon. So, let's just hope for the best. But hey, maybe a Runaways/Young Avengers team up could be spawned from all of this.

I hope Spider-Man kicks Stark's arrogant metal ass.

Although i have a bad feeling that Stark might have put a failsafe device in Peter's new suit. Kind of like what he did to James Rhodes when Rhodes took over as Iron Man and went bat****.

Instant controversial costume retcons. Spidey could be trapped in the suit when Iron Man hits the failsafe; Spidey somehow escapes and goes back to the old costume.

I have this feeling that the New Avengers is going to have a drastically different line-up once this is all over.
