Didn't see a thread for this.
The Coens' upcoming film follows a folk musician in ’60s Greenwich Village. It's loosely based on the life of Dave van Ronk, an American folk singer who presided over the Greenwich Village scene in the 1960s, which give birth to a new wave of artists that included Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Joni Mitchell.
Starring Oscar Isaac as the lead and having to name a few, Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham (holy crap!) and John Goodman to round up the supporting cast.
I like the sound of this, delving into folk music once again, it was an important element in O Brother, Where Art Thou? and that turned out fantastic and with this Joel suggested that the music in the film could possibly be performed live with single instrument and if I wasn't mistaken that Mulligan may also sing like she did in Shame, so this is full of potential. Delbonnel is the DP and last I've heard was that they're doing tests on possibly shooting it also on 16mm and striving for a documentary-esque look to it.
Set pics has appeared and we get our first look at the actors.
