it was today 13 years ago that Kurt Cobain's life came to an end, taking down the whole grunge movement's self bloated ego with him

I remember it wasn't until the eight when that Kurt Loder gave the news announcement on MTV and I just couldn't believe it

the guy who motivated millions to pick up their guitars and rock on, without any regard to how good or bad you were was no more

the guy who would become a big influence in my life was dead

it was kinda as if John Lennon had died again

and deep in my heart I always knew there was more to it than just a suicide note, but I say, let the pieces fall into their respective places at their respective time

I'll just play my Nirvana albums today like there's no tomorrow

You know, I was about to make this exact thread. That's why I love you, you PLAStard.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge Nirvana fan. If it wasn't for Kurt and company, I'd probably never have even bothered playing in the first place. And I know some ******* hater's gonna come in here and troll this thread, but before they do, they need to realize that the ****ty music they listen to probably wouldn't be here without Nirvana. It wasn't about the music, it was about the revolution. and to this day, there's not a single band that's made such a dynamic impact.

i miss him. who knows what they couldve become if he didnt end it then and there

"It's better to burn out than to fade away."

RIP Kurt. We miss you.

I love Nirvana, amazing songs Kurt was pretty dam talented really. its a pitty it ended the way it did.

You know, I like Nirvana. But I think they're vastly over-rated. Kurt was no where near the level of a Lennon, or even a George Harrison. He was a great guitar player. His lyrics were mostly drug induced stream-of-concious, and make no sense what so ever. Alice In Chains were better. And besides, if Kurt hadnt married Courtney Love, we wouldnt have to listen to her. So I think that right there cancels out any good he did...cause come on, have any of you ever heard a Hole song? It's like getting stabbed in the ears by a dirty diseased prostitue.

You know, I like Nirvana.
yeah, me too

But I think they're vastly over-rated.
so do a lot of people, but that's just an opinion, the facts are that he was very influential in the way music would be made for the years to come, not bad for someone who always thought of himself as a mere Pixies rip-off

Kurt was no where near the level of a Lennon, or even a George Harrison.
define level? as a guitar player? as a songwriter? as an influence over generations?

He was a great guitar player.
actually, he wasn't that good, but that's what was so great about him

His lyrics were mostly drug induced stream-of-conscious, and make no sense what so ever.
that's exactly where their beauty lies, they're open for interpretation

Alice In Chains were better.
yup, that's an opinion too, but don't worry, I'll make an Alice in Chains thread in may, and you can say how you hate their current reunion lineup all you want there

And besides, if Kurt hadn't married Courtney Love, we wouldn't have to listen to her. So I think that right there cancels out any good he did...cause come on, have any of you ever heard a Hole song? It's like getting stabbed in the ears by a dirty diseased prostitute.

can you further explain how? did his songs become less good because of his marriage? did "smells like teen spirit" suddenly loose it's value because of Love? you know what's my approach to the whole "Courtney Love Thing"? I ignore her, I really don't care about her music or what she does or anything, I rather enjoy Nirvana's music, and try not to waste energy on someone who doesn't deserve it

peace

Courtney Love is to music what the Power Rangers or Snowboarder suit was to Goblin, or what Batman and Robin was to Batman. She's an offense to every sense.

I was in such shock when I heard he had died.
Just felt weird.
I could've been high,I don't know,I don't remember. :csad:
It was a total bummer and I didn't mind all the media covering the story,I wanted to know everything. :csad:

Good analogy! :yay:

When I heard he was dead I went, "Courtney killed him." then I went back to doing whatever I was doing.
