With over 70 years of being published, all the Batman titles, miniseries, one shots, guest appearances, and alternate comic realities, it feels so much as if Batman had almost every comic book writer and artist working something on him, but I could be wrong

Who never touched Batman?

Robin, batman touched robin, robin never touched batman.

It was only until recently that I learned one of my all time favorites, Neil Gaiman, also did a little work on Batman. Now I've just got to read his Batman titles.

All I know of his work is "Batman: Secret Origins 2"
Amazing book

Gaiman just did the recent "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?", following Batman's death.

Jack Kirby never did any Batman.

Stan Lee?

LOL

Robert Kirkman? I think so.

Jack Kirby drew Batman during the 80s Super Powers mini-series.

I don't know if Will Eisner ever drew Batman. Even as a pinup page.

Garth Ennis wrote Legends of the Dark Knight #91-93.

Mark Waid wrote Batman In Barcelona: Dragon's Knight.

There's an amusing story Mark Evenier relates in the afterwards of the Joe Simon & Jack Kirby Sandman hardcover that Kirby told him. Back in the 40's when they jumped ship to DC, DC wanted them to tackle Batman, but they had to produce work that looked like Jerry Robinson's work and read like Bob Kane/Bill Finger's work. But what they wound up doing was going completely Joe Simon/Jack Kirby on it, with Kirby doing his usual crazy-awesome layout work. DC panicked and canned it. Then they were given Sandman.

It would have been sweet to see Kirby do Batman in the 40's or the 60's when he was at his height of brilliance.

Eisner never drew Batman, as far as I know. That would have been cool, because even during the earliest days of The Spirit, he was years ahead of just about everyone else working in comics.

Jeff Lemire
Bill Willingham

Mark Millar wrote Legends of the Dark Knight #79, which was a Christmas story.

Bendis never wrote batman. Geoff johns never wrote batman until the earth one thing comes out

If you want to go old school... plenty of guys never touched Batman... Irwin Hazen comes to mind.

Other than old school... Not sure about Marv Wolfman, Rick Vietch, ? Steve Ditko never did. Kyle Baker never did.

Walt Simonson?

Mark Waid also wrote Detective Comics Annual #2 back in the day. I recently re-read that after a few years. It's funny to see Marv Wolfman mentioned too. I actually dug through my Batman comic collection this past weekend to pull out some old gems from my childhood. Some by Marv Wolfman (with Jim Aparo on 'tec #625 and #628 and Pat Broderick on Year Three). The other by Mark Waid amongst others.

Waid was also one of the architects behind 52. Now with that I don't know how much of the creations shifted around. Like I know Morrison dealt with the Bat family stuff, I think he wrote some of Animal Man & the Oolong Island stuff was him too, Johns with Booster and Rucka with Renee and The Question. I'm almost sure the Lex stuff was Waid being the Superman mark that he is. Though I'm not sure if they ever took turns per story but I'm curious if Waid ever wrote on some of the bat stuff too.

He wrote an Elseworlds short story called "Citizen Wayne" for The Batman Chronicles #21 a few years back.

Kyle Baker illustrated "Snow Job!" for Batman: Black and White, Volume 2.

There's a story called "Legend" in Batman: Black & White, Volume 1 written and illustrated by Walt Simonson. He also wrote a story for Volume 2 called "The Riddle."

I have read that story. No idea it was Bendis. Did he ever work for DC?

Got any pics? I would love to see that.

Yes. Eisner drew Batman in a Spirit issue where they were celebrating Batman's birthday or something! There was a team up
