Comic Series or Arcs that you Were Surprised You Liked

You ever read the "New Defenders" era of the early-mid 80's when Beast reorganized the team with Iceman and Angel (and others)? I mean if you like those three, that was one of the last eras before they all got screwed up.
Nope, never read it. I'll have to hunt some issues down.

I felt the same about Planet Hulk. I'm not a Hulk fan at all, but Pak did something special with PH. I picked up the hardcover after hearing how great it was and loved every page.

Then I got to WWH and was horribly disappointed.

Ahh maybe I will have to go read Planet Hulk when I get the chance.

So much to read and so little money

Yeah but that didn't surprise me. I always loved those characters and always was a sucker for anything Defenders.

No one has bothered with that Masters of Evil mini? It's House of M continuity (which is why I didn't think I'd like it, I usually hate all that alternate reality stuff) but seeing Wolverine carve up Mr. Hyde and Rogue short circuiting Absorbing Man is the definition of cool. Plus, an adamantium Absorbing man smashes Wolverine! It's only halfway through a four issue run right now.

Slapstick - It just looked like such a stupid comic, and wound up being incredibly entertaining.

Blackest Night. I'm a die hard Marvel Zombie but so far the series hasn't disappointed.
WHAT!!!!!!!!
as much crap as you have giving me for voting DC alot of times!!!
Man! I outta tear up your Avengers ID card for that!
why you sellout you!
Hehe:cwink:
That Book rocks!

Hercules
Runaways (I've only read the first graphic novel, but when I started I was convinced I was going to hate it)

For DC, Crisis on Infinite Earths

Yeah with DC I've always been about Superman and Batman with the occasional Flash.

But Johns on Green Lantern has sucked me in. Probably because it attributes certain rules to the characters origins and powers where as before it seems as if they made crap up as they went along making the ion into another boring uber powerful character like silver surfer. Now green lanterns battles are both external and internal. I love it.

also the Omac Project, i loved it so much I started paying attention to crossovers and went back and read everything I could on the crisis's.

With Marvel I am usually just a daredevil and x-men guy. So I was surprised by the ultimates which led me to explore mark millar's stuff.

House of M was alright as well.
