So How's The $3.99 Effecting You?

Magic stories only bore me when they're not visceral enough. It's great to shoot magic beams at each other and all, but the best is when you've got just a little bit of magic injected into an otherwise normal world. Probably why I love Thor so much. Yeah, everything in Asgard is magical, but at the end of the day Thor's still physically pounding the crap out of monsters with his hammer, which provides that visceral connection and keeps it more exciting than endless battles of symbols and incantations.

hehe well you know Pym aint one of my favorites, but i do like his interaction with jocasta( it's kinda creepy with her having the wasp brain patterns and all). That dude has a thing for robots in his life, but i am all over the Avengers titles.

I feel as though I missed the boat on MA and it may never come back...

C'mon guys, I was mostly kidding. While I haven't really enjoyed New Avengers, there have been stuff I've liked...but overall I'm not a fan of Bendis' writing style. (Other than Ultimate Spider-Man...I have loved that)

I miss the classic Avengers feel, and Slott gives us that...although I agree that magic stories tend to bore me quicker than anything else out there.

So was I, hence the smiley face.

you can still jump on it Atrain, but just don't *"rock the boat! dont tip the boat over babeeee!"

*hues incorporated 70's disco song hehe

MA is a luxury liner, as far as I'm concerned. The Titanic that watched out for icebergs. :)

I just feel as though I would be completely lost. Maybe I will try it. Where would even be a good starting on point.

maybe i should ask these question in the MA thread

Four bucks is too much for me. Only exception will be Booster Gold, because it gets a back-up.

I'd consider it if they hiked up Herc and Cap'n Britain, but that's it. Other titles get dropped.

Love that song!!!
see and everybody said disco sucked!:cwink:
i love that there is a "street level" Avengers team and a Global meteorite is threatening to kill our butts team". dont get me wrong i love Hawkeye, but I personally never thought a dude that shot boomerang arrows should be fighting cosmic god killers.while dude's like thor shouldnt be partolling harlem. having 2 avengers teams make more sense to me than how many god only knows teams are there of X-men.i personally dig both NA and MA.

I love to see characters placed outside of their element. Why shouldn't Thor patrol Harlem? Because no one could challenge him? So what? It's nice to see it every now and then, just to remind you that even cosmic powerhouses and living gods aren't above helping out the little guy where he lives. Granted, it shouldn't be something we see every issue, but it can be fun when it does happen.

And if Cap can hang with cosmic god killers (and we all know he can), so can Hawkeye.

Although, I do agree with you that having two teams dealing with different things makes more sense.

I get Uncanny X-Men from a Marvel subscription, my brother buys Thor, and I download Dark adn New Avengers because I refuse to support Marvel's price increases. But I'm not sure what I'll do if one of the books I buy from the store goes up (which is just Cap, Mighty Avengers, Criminal, and Fantastic Four). I'd probably drop FF, but I'd have a tough time deciding on the other three.

in canada we pay this price for a lot of years now

I pretty much won't be picking up any minis that don't have major significance or aren't written by someone I really enjoy. I was considering some of the Dark Reign minis (Hawkeye cuz Diggle's cool, Sinister Spider-Man cuz I loves the Bachalo), but I don't think Ill any of those minis. New Avengers and Dark Avengers are the only ongoing I read that are 3.99. I'll still read some books if they go up, like Captain America or Daredevil.

Marvel seems to be the only company that's trying to make 3.99 a standard price so far, so perhaps it'll lead to me trying more Dark Horse or indie stuff. Not DC though, that ****'s for losers:cmad:

I've gotten a lot more choosey with my buyin'. These days, I'll flip through a book to see if anythin' about it catches my interest, maybe even skim some of it. If I deem it worthy, I buy it. If it ends up suckin', no future issues fer me.

I've already dropped several books 'cause I thought they flat-out sucked, but I definitely won't be pickin' 'em up again at their current price increases. What the big guys should be doin' is SHRINKING their lines to core titles and focusing on them, keepin' prices steady as the economy finds itself. Once ad revenue goes back up, then start churnin' out the books. Domination of the market don't mean crap if yer readers can't afford to buy all the books yer puttin' out.

And yeah, I read a lot more indies now than I used to, but the primary reason behind that is I know most of the people who make 'em. But, overall, indies have a lot of what the bigger books have lost in recent years.

not hurting me at all,i'm only picking up 4 monthly titles these days so I don't feel it at all, especially when the books are so spaced out between weeks

plus it's totally worth it for quality books like Cap,DD and Thor

Why shouldn't Thor patrol Harlem? Because no one could challenge him? So what?.
come on now Corp! like "Mr. Fish" is going to give Thor a run for his money( see i told you Luke needs a cool arch enemy like the Wrecker, your guy has alot he can spare him)
And if Cap can hang with cosmic god killers (and we all know he can), so can Hawkeye.
of course he can. see this is why i dont debate about books cause at any time the writer can write someone jumping into space, while holding onto Thor's hammer and beating the crap outta him with it( sorry i couldnt resist hehe)... but that's Cap and Cap can kick anybody's ass.come on. Honestly though.we both know that Batman and Cap should be pushing up dasies( and not the Rock of love kind) when they go against Thanos and Darksied.does it make for all kinds of "hair on your neck stand up" i am just a man, but i wont give up fighting till they part this shield from my cold hand dramatic tension? yes! but no way should those guys stand a chance against gods. it's funny cause you are no way should Luke even with that crowbar stand a chance against Ares, but cap with just his shield can.it's all good though cause we have 2 Avengers teams to choose from and i buy both.......but i will leave Pet Avengers to you my friend:cwink:....... oh and have you seen the price of these books now!?!?!? Thats insane!!!(hehe went off on a tangent there)

come on now Corp! like "Mr. Fish" is going to give Thor a run for his money( see i told you Luke needs a cool arch enemy like the Wrecker, your guy has alot he can spare him)
Yeah, you're right. He'll get the Mongoose and he'll like it. :oldrazz:

HAHAHA Mongoose!?!?! oooohhhhhhh that guy was sad! with those ugly ass orange threads yuck! well... when you got dudes like Loki, the Executioner and the Destroyer walking around you gotta have some losers tossed in there too. Okay. Okay. Quicksand!!! I will take Quicksand. i mean come on! i got Chemistro and Goldbug for god's sake, have mercy!!!

Hmm... All right. Quicksand is agreeable to me, but Luke's gotta guest-star in Thor's comic at some point. Quid pro quo, man. :)

the terms of the contract are acceptable. Quicksand it is. i would love for Luke to hang out with Thor. you know i think in all the years i have read comics i have never seen those two even come close to hanging out.wow! freaking Spiderman on the other hand has met everybody.

Spider-Man showed up early in Thor's previous series for, as far as I could tell, no other reason than that John Romita, Jr. happened to be drawing both Thor and Spider-Man at the time.
