Every time I watch 'Shameless' he reminds me of Ned Flanders.
Macy, to me, reminds me a little too much of Gary Oldman. He hasn't got a tough sounding voice or presence.Oldman's Gordon was a rather meek man, who had to be tough when the situation called for it.
Now, Cranston. He's perfect at being tough. He would come off as more hardened and no ******** type, Commissioner. Perfect for a Gordon that's been in the business longer. Grey up his hair, and Bob's your uncle and fanny's your aunt![]()

ok just a sec... given that we have an older Batman, wouldnt it make better sense if "Commissioner Gordon" is actually younger?
i mean James Gordon for most of the Batman stories has always been portrayed as older than Bruce, and that he stood as one of the father figures in Bruce's life. unless this rumor means that ex-Commissioner Gordon will be featured in the film then sure lets go ahead with the fan-casting. otherwise we should consider looking at the opposite end of the spectrum.
Barbara Gordon anyone? suddenly that Emily Blunt rumor is starting to make some sense....
Cranston. Who cares if it's obvious. Some times it's better to just get the guy who fits the role to a tee, rather than risk it with a stunt casting.
This. I'm not against "out of the box" choices but sometimes the more obvious ones and fan favorites really are the best ones (Cavill as Superman, Bale as Batman, etc.).
True. Great examples there.
But you forgot Gal as WW.![]()
I wouldn't mind if Holly Hunter played Commissioner Gordon
You mean like Batman Beyond where Babs was Commish? But Bruce is still Batman here so.....
No I mean as in turn Jim Gordon into a female.
Personally I think Hunter would make an awesome Gordon to Affleck's old and grizzled Batman.
