hey, it's okay... no need to get wound up over it. Have you seen Burton's designs for Superman Lives?... be thankful we got Singer's version.
lol you mean zombie Superman?

yes... and vampire/frankenstein Superman, with the blue and black cape.

He also look like Edward Scissorhands. :p Since Burton created that character of course. And seeing those awful designs with what Burton, Ratner, & McG were going for, Singer made the suit as close to the classic look as possible than what those 3 were going for. While I do think the suit needed some work, but I prefer it than the crappy un-classic look if Singer didn't do SR.

I've never seen their designs for the costume, could someone post them.

I dont think anyone has them... I do know that descriptions of them were once on here at one point I believe.

After scavenging most of the internet, I found out that one of Ratner's Version was a suit-in-a-can, which wasn't a traditional design.... that's all I found out though.

There weren't any pics of them, but I did found one that show Supes with blond hair, electricity coming out of his eyes (no doubt from Superman Blue/Red in the comic), etc. I really don't know where to find it. I'm sure someone here can post few pics. Especially the ugly one from Burton.

I think there is a thread for Superman Lives in another part of the Superman forum.

What Routh needs in the sequel is higher trunks, a lower collar, and a more vibrant red. This will improve his Superman look.

also a larger shield. and jet black hair (goes for Chris Bale in Batman 2 as well).

A larger shield would look awkward on Routh IMO. The only changes to the shield I would make is to make it flatter, so it looks less stuck on, also it needs to be considerably brighter than the red on the rest of the costume. Right now the shield doesn't stand out, because the dark shade of red is being affected by the plastic material.

Look at this image for example:
superman13.jpg

The shield looks dull and not very iconic.

Shows that a shield considerably brighter than the rest of the suit would look much better.

i think the 3D shield looks good, although you're right it could look better if it looks more like it was integrated within the fibers of the outfit instead of it looking like someone just glued it on.

the size of the shield is very much dependent on the torso of the wearer, and since Routh's is more long than it is wide then the sheild size should compensate and balance it out. right now Routh looks more like a swimmer with a cape than "Superman!" if you know what i mean.

i disagree with that... it all has to do with lighting and shading in that pic

as for the manip... I think I did that one, at least it looks like one that I've done in the past.... and it looks horrible.

That picture is just one of many where the shield suffers due to the darker colours.

I found it in the manip thread, it's quite a recent manip.

When people say the shield can't really get much wider on Routh's frame, they're right. But really it could be vertically longer, and that would help a lot.

there are much better manips out there. If you look closely enough, the shield is a different color than the rest of the red shade... I remember accidently doing that for a request for someone because I was too lazy to do the symbol because it would of been too difficult at athe time.

routh looks like he's slouching. his stomach is hanging over his lowriding panties. reeve has a strong, natural posture.

Not fair, Reeve's picture is a professionally done promo, it's supposed to look the best.
