Playstation Concord

They spent $200 million on a game that was shut down a few weeks after it was launched? Money well spent. :o

A game they offered refunds on. Yeah, this isn't a shock.

I honestly expected Sony to at least try to salvage it somewhat considering the cost.
But that they throw it all away, 2 weeks after Release...is insane.
The money, the time and all that gone into this IP...and Sony just throws it away in a span of mere weeks.
Years of work.

But even worse, they close the studio, fire a whole bunch of people possibly...after they forced them to make a game for a oversaturated market while micromanaging them.

This is all on Sony, yet no CEO or so will lose their job despite being the ones who messed up.
This industry is so awful.

The main person who deserves to be fired is the genius who decided to charge 40 bucks when every major hero shooter is Free to Play.

Actually, Sony acquired Firewalk Studios from another publisher during development of the game:

They also acquired Jade Raymond's Haven Studios the year before after liking what they saw with their multiplayer GaaS.

But see, no one was really clamoring for them to completely focus on live service, especially after all those successful single player games they've released for the PS4.
