Either

A) a lower cost console PS6 and higher cost console PS6
B) a console PS6 and a portable PS6
C) 2 test chip candidates but only one will ultimately be used in a console

B makes sense because consoles are losing market share to Nintendo portables, phones, and tablets and PC portables (SteamDeck) for years.

None of this solves Sony’s major problem which is a lack of first party exclusives especially if you don’t count the parade of superfluous remasters and remakes. Under Jim Ryan the ‘vision’ was to spam GaaS shooter games (like Disney was spamming Marvel/Star Wars product under Bob Chapek) with plans for 12 of them but both he and that plan have been removed.
And the good news, the lower cost console will be available for as low as $1,999 (with no hard drive, disc drive, controller, power etc - all available as a separate package for another $999). :funny: :csad:

The PS3-game The Last of Us got a remaster for PS4 and a remake on PS5. Should we expect a remaster of the remake on PS6? :o

A PS6 remaster for the PS5 remake is possible.

That sounds like it might be for the rumored handheld, otherwise I don't see how it'd be useful for an indoor console.

I've recently bought a small solar light this month to test it out as I've never tired any solar powered things before. Its pretty useless if you don't place it in someplace that would get very bright sunlight all day. Its also not very effective if the weather is very cloudy. This week my solar light lasts for about 1 hour because of the clouds. In a hot day, I think 5 hours maximum. It automatically lights up when its dark or when I put it indoor.

What games are they even planning for this, especially games are longer to make these days. What I dislike about another Sony portable gaming device is, I'm not going to invest in a handheld console but I also don't want to miss out on games that might appeal to me.

Same thing every generation says.

Sony and Microsoft holding hands to work with AMD is a good thing. Hopefully this means future AMD GPUs can finally compete against Nvidia's.

Though, I kinda dread the future will have a focus on frame generation and ML.

Consoles basically have to adopt ML to stay cost effective. Prices aren't going down anymore. If you want better performance, that either means more money or more ML.

Oh for sure. It's thanks to Nvidia's DLSS that Cyberpunk 2077 is running on the Switch 2 after all. Sony has their own ML-based upscaling tech with PSSR which will be improved/replaced with whatever they're cooking with AMD.

I am more concerned about Frame Gen. Games will soon render "fake frames", thus game devs can lazily do barebone optimization and I reckon PC ports will suffer even more because of that.

We've already seen it with Black Myth: Wukong, which has a performance mode that abuses frame gen by going from 30 fps to 60. DLSS can also be stretched past the point of usefulness, like Fast Fusion on Switch 2, which upscales from too low of a base resolution for optional image quality.

I wish companies like Nvidia or AMD had best practice guidelines for their tech, so that devs would understand the limits of what they're working with. But as we've seen with PC games, they can't even eliminate something as basic as shader compilation stutter. This is the problem when studios don't have their own in-house engines, and instead rely on third party software like Unreal. There's just too many variables when it comes to developing modern games.

Outdated. Bring the 16K. :o

16k already? When they haven't released 9k to 15k? Thats simply too much resolutions.
I know it's a joke but show me where 8k is anywhere near mainstream. 4K is good enough for virtually everyone and 8k isn't going to be any great improvement over 4k like 4k was to 2k let alone going from VHS to DVD quality.
