Conspiracy Theories And World Politics Thread

Mostly accurate. The christian conservative religious right has become more unhinged and desperate to cling to power instead of sharing the country with everyone else who is not them.
I was part of an organization for work that included a lot of people in leadership from all around KY, including heavily rural areas. One lady, who is a vocal supporter of the Republican Party was telling us a story and mentioned her “Bible study group.” Being a Christian myself (though they would say that I’m not because I’m a liberal) I asked her which book of the Bible they were currently studying. She stammered for a while and then said, “well, we aren’t actually looking at any passages. We mostly just get together and talk.”

This is why these people have such a huge disconnect between the fundamental tenants of their stated religion and their own beliefs and actions.

This is very true. When you don't do the reading and the work to really know what you're supposed to be believing in you can be so easily swayed. I'm not letting someone else tell me their interpretation of the Bible. I'm reading it for myself.

There's a good deal of what we would call "socialism" in the bible. There's an expected level of treatment for slaves, there's a jubilee for debts, the poor are allowed to sacrifice smaller animals, and the rich must leave a portion of their fields for the poor.

Not to mention the outright communist attitudes that the Bible describes the first century church as having:

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.

Yes, there is a big difference between the way the first Christians practiced it and the much more corrupt way Communists down the road did it. If people actually applied socialism fairly, there would be a vastly smaller lower class and probably a much more prosperous and stable country.

The corruption led to Animal Farm.

Yeah, this is basically modern-day Christianity, at least according to Fox News, which is the exact opposite of what being a Christian (or any kind of religious person, really) is all about:

Watters is Evil, stupid, and lazy.

Homelessness has a lot of causes -- out of control housing inflation, mental illness, and a weak economy.
