He was asking me because I am obviously not a fan of the LAPD....please tell me you're not insinuating there are no good police officers.

The LAPD is not a person, you are lumping all of them in with the bad apples. Get pulled over because of your skin colour? get slapped about or something? because that is how you come off, a bitter agenda driven kid who has decided that somehow this killer is in the right because some cops in the LAPD have gotten away with some stuff.
I really don't see what the big deal is.
Not everyone is going to like the LAPD.
Does everyone have to?
It sure seems like it.

That has nothing to do with what I asked or pointed out, disliking the whole of the LAPD because of the actions of a few cops is as stupid as any other form of prejudice.
What about disliking congress or lawyers?
Is that "stupid"?
Yes it is, disliking anyone based purely on their job is moronic.
Are there any stats on what kinds of calls police go out on? I have no idea where to start with Google.I'd say it depends on the job and it's function for society.
Police, to me, have the primary function of systematic control and a distant secondary function of public safety.
Therefore I distrust and dislike people who choose to serve that function. Not a completely unreasonable stand point IMO.
But my sister was in the throws of some really bad menstrual cramps while out running near Golden Gate Park and she flagged down some police officers who took her home because she really didn't look well. It took a lot of convincing for them not to drive her to the hospital.
So YMMV with cops. I suspect both types exist - ones who like being in charge and telling people what to do, and others who really do care about public safety.@ Messiah: No, you are entitled to that opinion. However, your example of having a dislike of congress/lawyers doesn't apply to this situation.
Internets! Some kind of wannabe reporter blogger would be all up on this! When their job is to uphold the rules, I find it an unreasonable standpoint. By all means, decry corruption where you see it, however. Public safety comes from the control on irrational or unstable individuals implemented by the law.
@Anita: Didn't you know--the LAPD controls the papers too.

I understand this doesn't apply to everyone but there is a lynch mob mentality toward a radical black man who is accused of crimes.
Even though that same lynch mob may have formed regardless of the racial dynamics, I just can't join or even associate with that mentality.
I hope it's resolved without further violence to either party though.
Before I saw his picture, I actually assumed Dorner was white. The most famous serial killers are white, not black.

Its not a lynch mob, Messiah. Its a desire to bring the man to justice before he kills another innocent or gets himself killed. Dorner isn't known for his skin colour, only his deed. In this case, killing some innocents as well as cops.
