Corona and other diseases

So, China has like half of its population under some sort of travel restrictions.

And I'm sure no one will sneak past that.

The Chinese premiere of the next Bond movie No Time To Die has been cancelled due to the outbreak.

I heard that. This reporter on CNBC named Eunice Yoon has been over there since it started and says she's had to deal with food only being delivered and unable to leave to get it, etc.

Like how many country's have gotten it so far? I have heard of 6.

Are you guys seeing people walk around in surgical masks? A customer was looking for some last night and I told him we were sold out, he said everyone else in town is as well.

People's ignorance as to how diseases work is annoying as hell.

Yeah I've seen some downtown Chicago, but mostly Asian.

I've always seen Asians (Assuming Chinese) with masks even prior to the coronavirus.

And short of the appropriate type of mask they won't do any good against a virus anyways. The ones that you typically see are not effective but it placates people's misplaced sense of safety.

Yeah, I've been seeing this for years. Just this past month the flu has been bad in my area that I've seen all people wearing them.

A lot of Chinese immigrants or those in the Chinese diaspora that emigrate to the U.S. come from places with incredibly bad air quality in the cities.

As such many got into a habit of wearing those face masks and continued to do so even after coming to North America, where the air quality in cities because of environmental regulations is far, far better.

Oh wow i only heard about China, italy, USA, North K, iran. So lot more then i thought. I wounder how that 35 compares to different disuse in the past that didnt even get close to has bad has they thought it would like bird flu.

Well i dont think the way diseases work is like a common sense. While not more then normal lol. I dont see a lot of people but i see a few but that is ever year around flu season. Cold and flu season is one of the many reasons i cant stand winter and working in retail. Before i worked retail i got sick about once ever 2 years and when i did get sick it would only be 1-2 days. Now i get sick multiple times and they are much longer lasting to. I had a cold that last for like 10 dayd just a little before Thanksgiving. I had a second cold that just went away about a week ago after having it for 18 days.

I can see this possibly become serious problem in poorer, developing countries but I think the wealthy nations will have resources to minimize the rate of infection.

Anyone returning from one of the countries where its more spread among the population is placed under two weeks of quarantine, same thing happens to people who come into contact with people coming from those countries.

I'm scared of the thought of quarantine.
So there won't be a massive issue? What a relief.

This is one of the times where using their acronym is not a good idea.
