What do you think of the costumes?

  • PERFECT!

  • They're good, they could have been alittle more faithful.

  • They work I guess.

  • I hate them.

I'm OK with the Ozymandias costume. He strikes me as the person who would wear a costume that articifially accentuates his physical perfection, being the narcissist that he (to a degree) is. Also, it gives him that godlike look, almost like a bust of Alexander.

i feel the same way about looking at them. i can't help myself =) i love it

good stuff, but nothing suprising.

actually i take that back. its pretty suprising that someone had the balls to put nipples on a superhero costume again.:wow:

but i think it works.

and niteowl looks awesome. a perfect compromise i think.

Of course it does. Dont forget, Rorscach wrote in his journal that Adrian was "possibly homosexual." The nipples on the suit only gives him more evidence.

I think the pictures themselves are cheesy besides Rorschach's; they seem way too stylistic. But I think they all look great, Ozymandias is kinda bleh and the comedians mask looks like its about to fall off, but other than that it looks amazing.

The cheesy stances and over stylish pictures I think are the main things I dont like about the pics. I'm sure in action everyone will look amazing.

true, but how is he going to do flips and stuff on his shows if he is in a rubber suit like that? but i do understand the idea behind it. but he should legit be in great shape

As you can see, if they had gone with closer to the original design, it would have been better!

Sure, that looks nice, but I can live with the new design.

You need to flatten the ears a little (they're too diagonal to look good with the head-dress thing). I'm inclined to agree that a more faithful cowl/head-dress would have been better, but frankly I'm not too bothered by it's removal.

it doesn't look back with the backing. but i think it looks fine as is.

Looks cool in that still pic but I can imagine it looking really stupid in action.

Why can't I stop looking at these...?

It's almost like a car accident. But not.

I dig 'em - the suits. I wish though that we could get a better look at the Silk Spectre's outfit. Because you can't really make it out only bits...

I am however disappointed at the lack of Dr. Midnight. But I also suppose that you can't really just throw up a photo with some nude dude in it and be all like 'hey, here's what we did with the look of this guy...it's done in a realistic fashion, sweet huh?'

The only thing this guy would like to point out is the fact, that to me at the least Night Owl looks like a sad cat. or rather a stoic cat.
Who is Doctor Midnight!?
Is there is a secret character I've missed the 700 times I've read this book!?

ferd.

I'm disappointed.

What is with all the rubber? Seriously, it ruins any gritty edge this story had. And I was so excited after that David Fincher-esqe still we got. But Ozymandias and Nite Owl both look like they stepped out of BATMAN & ROBIN with all the rubber.

Part of what made Gibbons' costume designs so great is that these costumes mostly looked homemade, which perfectly fit the story. There was an innate, appropriate silliness to it, but it also captured the vintage superhero feel. The only costume of the bunch that really feels that way is Rorschach's.

I'd guess that the head-dress would be a nightmare to make work - and look good -practically, so that's why they removed it.

Some rabid fanboy should compare the blotches on Rorschach's mask to the ones in the earlier frame from the film, to see if they're the same or not--might tell us if they'll change shape like they're supposed to.

I think it all looks brilliant. My excitement for this film is reaching unparalleled levels.

Here you go, Saint - no worries

TK8103: As we all know, one of the most intriguing elements of Rorschach’s costume is the changing patterns on his mask. How is that going to be accomplished on screen?
Zack Snyder: As you can imagine, the most effective way to render the ever-changing inkblot that is Rorschach’s face is with the use of visual effects. So, we created a blank mask and strategically placed small green tracking markers on it. The markers will be used to track the contours of his face throughout the shot. There is also a hole that reveals Jackie’s [Jackie Earle Haley] eyes not only so he can see, but also to help to the VFX artists later while they animate Rorschach’s face. The opening allows them to see what Jackie’s eyes were emoting. When completed, his open-eyed, green polka dotted face will have been replaced by a CG element, a slowly changing inkblot pattern. We’ve gone through and analyzed the many inkblots from the graphic novel and have assigned them each different emotional characteristics — so that when Rorschach is experiencing something in a scene, the shape on the mask reflects his emotions in a graphic and abstract manner. I have had the opportunity to see some of the early tests and I am very pleased with how it is coming together.

Maybe it's just these pictures, but they look to desaturated. If they were more colorful, I'd like them a lot more.

With Watchmen, I feel like they have a better excuse to be ridiculous because that's kinda the joke in the story. But maybe they're afraid audiences wouldn't get it.

Rorschach and the Comedian are complete standouts, I'm thrilled with them. Very, very pleased with Nite Owl (though I wish they made his goggles circular) and Silk Spectre. Ozy is disappointing to be honest, I think they dropped the ball on him a little, but the rest of the characters are too kick ass for me to be bothered.

amazing apart from ozzi which reminds me of batman and robin and that's a BAD thing

Well, the Nite-Owl II looks too much like the Batman but it's good. But Ozy... OMFG! He looks like George Clooney in Batman & Robin!!! It's so... :shock Hate that!

Look at the other pictures, seriously, you get the feel of what the movie looks like, these are just desaturated for the hell of it I guess, they're not what the entire movie looks like.. You'd know this, if you followed the movie's production.

Seriously? Are you people just here because of the costume reveal?

Uh anyone notice that the OWL SHIP IS BEHIND NIGHT OWL!!!!!!! Now THAT is what I call faithful!!

We all  Archie but right now I think we're too busy orgasming over the costumes.

But.. Archie does look badass.

Wow. :wow: I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Watchmen is my favorite comic of all time and I have some trepidation towards how the film will turn out but this is cool.
I don't love the Comedian's eye mask. It's a bit Robin from the Schumaker films. (Sorry) And Ozy doesn't bug me as long as the public refrains from mentioning the nipples constantly.
