Hmm, my post was deleted from here, but seems like a good time to restate what i thought of them...
I'm gonna be honest, I don't know much of the comics, but this movie has caught my interest.
Something I do know about are costumes, I've done a search on the comic costumes, and here's my take on what we're getting.
The Comedian
I honestly think this is a perfect adaptation/translation from comic to film.
Nite Owl
It's obvious inspiration was taken from the Batman movies, but I don't see it as a bad thing. The feather texture on the suit works for him, making it seem more like an owl. Where I understand some peoples' concerns are on the cowl, but I understand why they didn't make it exactly like the comic and it all has to do with the movement of the actor. I mean they even have zippers visible between the bicep and the pec, so it's not just a one piece rubber suit. On another positive note is that they kept his color scheme, which is rare for superhero movies nowadays.
Ozymandias
I'm just gonna get this thing out of the way. Like others have said, in ancient Egypt, Rome, and Greece, their chest armor was made to look close to an actual chest for many reasons, one of the main ones is a visual illusion, like a intimidation factor for whoever they fought; They wanted their enemies to believe their armor were their actual bodies. It is obvious the designers main inspirations were from ancient Rome and Egypt, and they succeeded in giving us a great costume. Anyone who finds the nipples distracting really needs to get over Batman Forever/Batman & Robin; Those movies are old, and even though they were bad they did have good things that can work in other movies; Ozy's costume for example. Now as an adaptation, it's fairly obvious they desaturated it for the picture, because even the actor himself doesn't look how he actually looks. I do see the hues of purple and gold in the suit though, as minimal as they are. They changed the headdress a bit, but nothing major, it's more Roman inspired now as opposed to Egyptian inspired.
Rorschach
I really have nothing to say about this other than it's a perfect translation/adaptation from the comics to film.
Silk Spectre
I do agree with some posters on the dominatrix look of it, but I think the main reasoning for that is the thigh high boots. I mean they got the black part of the costume down perfectly, they just added gloves and boots. Though the yellow isn't the see through fabric of the comics, it still has the same illusion in this pic. I just think they should have went with shorter boots so that her legs are a visible aspect like her comic counterpart.
So yeah, that's my two cents....and I'm intrigued to see Dr. Manhattan.
