Ooh ok, thank you! :yay:

Oz is the only 'meh' from me, but I rate this as "perfect" because rest of the costumes are pretty spot-on.

I prefer Silk Spectre's movie costume. She looks more like a superhero.

The rest are perfect.

Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Ozymandias look ****ing perfect in this picture:

I wish they had kept the sheer, silky aspect of SS2

They look very fanboy/hollywood-budget. Not very original or interesting. Dune and "the Cell" had nice costume design. A bit more artistic and organic.

IIII am SOO excited.

I can't wait for the movie.

And Rors. is amazing.

I hope that they do a viral marketing thing.

That would be amazing.

they're based on pre-existing designs, how original do you want them?

It is fanboy design with a Hollywood budget.

1st post.......

I'm a big fan of the Graphic Novel, and like everyone else on here I'm extremely excited about the prospect of the movie. The Teaser really did enhance that excitment, looks very Impressive. On Topic, I like all the costumes with the exception of Ozymandias, which just doesn't look right, or as good as maybe it could have been. I Like the updated Silk Spectre II, and Nite Owl II, imo the costumes from the novel wouldn't quite work with a straight comic to film adaption. Rorschach and the Comedian (minus the mask and the younger Comdian costume which would just look daft) look perfect. Finally, I think they really have pulled off Dr Manhattan extremely well.

At the end of the day imo some of the costumes in the GN are extremely OTT and stupid looking. Yes they work in the novel but would never work on the big screen. The film makers behind this are well aware the vast majority of the cimema going public have no clue what "Watchmen" is. They are trying to appeal to the mainstream adult audience who on the whole have no idea what the original costumes looked like, so I have absolutely no problem with them altering the costumes. Lets be honest a few tweeks here and there will not effect the overall feel and narrative of the story. As long as the film makers don't mess with that I will be more than happy.

They have on record said they are staying true to the original, and I believe they will especially since Davie Gibbons is heavily on board. Lets be honest though if they stayed 100% true to the original costumes then the whole thing might look a wee bit daft and quite unappealing to the general movie going public. I would love this to be a smash hit, so MANY more people are aware of this gem of a story, and it will only be a hit if it first of all looks the part. Lets be honest Zack and his team could NEVER satisfy all the "go through everything with a fine tooth comb" fanboys with regards to the costumes anyway. That is ALWAYS a lost cause for film makers.

The Comedian's younger costume is in the movie, as is the gimp mask...apparently.

I'm sort of mixed on these costumes. Generally they're okay. I'm a little nervous about the Batman and Robin vibe, but maybe that's intentional.

While Nite Owl looks okay here, I do sort of miss his look in the comic. It reminded me of Adam West's Batman with the simple spandex - it was dorky, but in a fitting way.

Also - while I like that they've redesigned Silk Spectre....all I can think of is: Granny Panties. The bottom half of her outfit looks like a 50s swimsuit or granny panties. Either show more thighs or just cover her whole legs. Maybe it's because I'm looking at this from a female perspective but, ugg, granny panties.

so do we see the gimp mask on the comedian in the movie? because the scene where he is standing on Archie in the trailer he should have it, but he does not.
not really a big deal, I'm just wondering.

Dunno if this has already been stated, but will Rorschach's mask change over different shots, like in the comic?

Seek out the comic con footage. All will be answered, and you will be pleased.

Snyder has said many times that the whole B&R look is intentional.

Here is the Ozymandias in front of the tvs. 1024x768

That pic bugs me more than anything about the new Watchmen movie. He looks like Robin from the Batman & Robin movie, I think I even see a nipple on the suit. That was the first big problem about Batman & Robin and Batman Forever so how come no one cares when it comes to Watchmen?

Edit: I've said this in a few threads but I think this is best fitted here.

That's the point. Just as the costumes in the novel looked like the costumes from comics of the era (think skin-tight material, even on a rather pudgy Nite Owl II), they have designed these costumes based partly on the style of comic movie costumes of this era. Are nipples ridiculous on a superhero costume? Absolutely. That's exactly why they're included here.

But nipples on the costumes isn't this era really. Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman Begins, Deardevil, these are comic book movies of this era and are all nipple-less. The nipples were the last era of comic book/Batman movies.
