What do you think of the costumes?

  • PERFECT!

  • They're good, they could have been alittle more faithful.

  • They work I guess.

  • I hate them.

Teh Penis would make this movie R - if it wasn't going to be already.

Since it is - I want my glowing blue cock.

Because a fully naked man can be shown in an "R" movie and not a "PG13" movie.

Wow...never saw or read the comics so i didn't know. My mistake.

Even if it's rated R, they can't show a penis through the whole movie, as far as i know. I think that model is probably the best option regardless of the ratings (please don't flame me. Just my opinion)

Yo can film it so that his crotch isn't a focus point - and it should be that way. It shouldn't be there just for shock value.

can someone post a side-by-side pics, it's not working in my post for some reason.

i disliked LXG but I thought V for Vendetta, From Hell and Constantine ranged from awesome to freakin sweet
I thought all of them were pretty poor. Especially FROM HELL, which pretty much took a dump on one of Alan Moore's greatest works (it's right up there with WATCHMEN).

They can show a penis as long as it's not used sexually.

Kevin Bacon had no problem showing his in Wild Things.

oh ok.

Yeah but that was one scene. Kate winslet got away with a PG-13. In general, i though it was different if it's through the whole movie. But i don't the offical rules to be honest.

They could, but you don't think people will be shocked by it? How big of a role does he play in the story?

Agreed StorminNorman, I don't think anyones expecting his penis to be onscreen everytime the character is onscreen.

What do you mean side-by-side pics M.O.Steel?

I meant side-by side with the comic-book version.:woot:

haha...yeah this is starting to weird me out.

Well I like the some of them but Night Owl is a dissapontiment to me. He looks to much like Batman and it also looks like he is to well...cool. I always liked Nite Owl cause he was kinda a loser looking guy with cool gear. But I guess that is just me.

as for Oz, the problem for me is not the coustume as it is that the person playing him looks to old. I mean this is taking place 5 to 10 years after there glory days, and Oz looks like he is 22.

In the comic he is only Clothed in flashbacks, for the Comedians funeral and for the TV interview.

The rest of the time he is letting it all hang out.

Love them all, I don't know why all the hate for Ozymandias. I mean the six pack armor makes him appear immortal and he seems to have that great God/Pharaoh look which was intended in the novel. I'm glad his colors are darker then those of the novel instead of being light and bright.

They never focus on it, its doesn't have a role - its a penis.

But its there, and its important to his character. He is a god, he has no need for modesty. He is also a man, so he should have a wiener.

With Ozymandias and Nite Owl, it almost looks like they're poking fun on the "overdone" nature of modern movie superhero costumes, specifically the THE DARK KNIGHT Batsuit. And I love that.

Completely agreed. I look at it this way: I know Nite Owl is supposed to be based off Blue Beetle, but before I knew that fact, he reminded me most of Batman. Creature of the night, rich man with high-tech gadgets, bunch of stuff named after him, works in a cave under his house. Even the costume is similar, with the body one color, and the trunks, cape, gloves, boots, and cowl another color. Hell, his cape even closes in the front like Batman.

So since Batman in comics has always been drawn in spandex, as have most superheroes, it makes sense for Nite Owl to look similar. But, like you said, modern superheroes have really complex, "busy" looking suits. Since Watchmen is somewhat of a commentary on the superhero comic book genre, it makes sense that the movie should do the same for the superhero movie genre.

And then, of course, there's the argument that spandex just looks crappy on film most of the time. Hell, I think characters like Nite Owl and Batman would probably look a bit more like their film counterparts if spandex wasn't just plain easier to draw.

Remember that they cast young so that the actors could play the characters in flashbacks, then use make-up to look older for the "current" scenes. I have to assume this picture of Ozy is from a flashback.

Ya, but still, even in flashbacks he kinda has this Been around the world feel(which of course he did travel around the world) this one looks like some naive kid

they look cool. comedian and rorschach are spot on. niteowl and laurie are not bad. i think my biggest problem is with the ozy-nips. wtf?!

I like how the people criticizing Ozymandias forgets that the man has action figures to sell. He's supposed to look like a superhero. His costume is almost a parody. Not to mention the ancient Roman and Egyptian undertones. Right over some people's heads.

These costumes do look fantastic though. Great job by the team. Nite-Owl actually looks intimidating (I'm sure it's an update of his mentor's costume and not the exact costume. Same with Silk Spectre). Comedian has me the most excited though. I am absolutely loving that costume and how they even made the diamond mask look good. Makes me want to see Robin in a Batman movie or a Green Arrow movie to be made or something.

Not familiar with ancient Greek and Roman chest armor?

i get the ozy stuff. i think the costume looks cool aside from the nipples. you can still sell toys without them. i was expecting a pharoah headress/helmet ala tut. the costumes are pretty faithful imo.

i know what you're saying, but wasn't ramses II egyptian? i'm not familiar with egyptian armor, so i guess i can't really say anything. meh. its moot. the movie is gonna be cool, and hella faithful...or so it seems.
