As great as it is that Marvel is digging into their catalogue of superheroes to bring to life, to be quite honest, I really don't care about any of that; as long as Spiderman, the flagship character, is being kept separate from all of it. It is the equivalent of Warner Bros making their DCCU without a Batman in it; obviously they can and will would never do it without him but them doing that, is what Marvel is doing (and doing a marvelous job) but it's making me personally care less because Spiderman is not a part of it.
And I will forever more say the reason Spiderman's popularity has diminished is because of his absence and subsequent separation from the mcu.
I realize that, but since things are different now (we are living in an age where finally superheroes are crossing paths in movies) they should all work together.
I've been thinking for a while that Sony and Marvel will cut a deal to put Spidey in the MCU post Avengers 3. The disappointing box office returns for ASM 2 and the riskiness of the villain spin-off films have made me more confident that it will happen before the end of the decade.
