To be fair, everyone thinks this Batman is based on Frank Miller's. Maybe they think it's a DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN sort of thing.

It's a stupid idea. It only really worked in RETURN OF THE JOKER because Joker was the Joker, and he happened to be mutating Robin into himself.

This reminds me of the time when someone created a thread in the Sin City forum called "Was Dwight Marv?" after the movie came out. Since Dwight made a comment about having a new face, the Hype poster concluded that he might have previously been Marv. Even though you actually saw Dwight and Marv in the same scene together. Maybe he thought it was Tyler Durden thing or something.
