Boy am I glad Christopher Nolan didn't listen to the people on this board when casting Joker and Harvey Dent.

Liev isn't a bad actor actually (he is Sabretooth in the upcoming Wolverine movie), but Eckhart is on another level entirely.

And don't get me started on Crispin "I play the same geeky guy in every damn movie" Glover (yes that's his real middle name).

:shock:pal:

Anyone have any of those old manips people were throwing around of ole Crispin?

I never understood the fascination with Crispin Glover either.

he's no good. and not a very good fit for the joker either.

and as far as liev and eckhart go...

eckhart was amazing. there's no way liev could have pulled off dent/two-face as powerfully as eckhart did.

I don't understand why you made two of these topics?......

the IMDB trivia said Matt Damon was offered the Harvey roll first, wonder what that would have been like

Probably pretty good but less believable due to how big of a star Damon is. It'd be similar to Nicholson's Joker.

One, Crispin was a terrible choice to begin with. Two, I believe Liev would have done just as well as Eckhart did. It wasn't until we actually saw TDK that we were fully confident Aaron could pull off both roles, so I don't see why we can't give the benefit of the doubt here.

Lastly, yes Damon would have knocked Two-Face outta the park. But Aaaron did an awesome job nonetheless that I can't say I'm "sad" Matt turned it down.

who knows if the story about damon turning it down is even true.

but i could definitely see him playing the role.

To hell with matt damon....that is all

Why do you say that? Because he turned Nolan down? Daniel Day-Lewis and Anthony Hopkins turned down Ducard and Alfred in Batman Begins and I do not hold it against them at all. I loved Neeson's Ducard and Caine's Alfred is wonderful. By far the best portrayal of Alfred we've ever had, far better than the comics for sure.

hopkins wouldn't have been as good as caine.

and lewis wouldn't have been as good as neeson. i think viggo woulda been great though. he looks JUST LIKE ra's. and he's a hell of an actor

Those are pretty bold claims. Imo Hopkins and Lewis are twice the actors Caine and Neeson are.

I wanna see Batman beat up Jason Bourne.

i don't know about hopkins. he's good. but i think he's too creepy to play alfred.

and daniel-day lewis is also good...but i don't know. i mean, yeah he could do it no doubt. he COULD play ra's al ghul. hopkins..i don't know. he's old and english. but still...i don't think he's quite right for alfred.

but maybe lewis would have worked pretty well as ra's.

I think that's the Hannibal role having a big effect on people. As an actor, I think he's in every way superior to Caine, but I will agree that Michael has the edge in having natural wit that's so beneficial to the character.

Well, we're talking about the same guy that was so enveloped in his role as a paraplegic that he stayed in character through months of filming, and in doing so, broke his own ribs because of his posture. Man is dedicated beyond belief.

If Ra's had a much deserved bigger role, DDL would've been the man to do it no doubt. His talent would have been wasted in such a small role for BB though. Ditto for Viggo. I'd say Neeson as well, but the man makes a living in doing short roles.

Actually, it was confirmed by Jett at batman-on-film. They were so confident to cast Damon that, when he refused the part, they had to restart the search process for another actor. That's why there was a delay in announcing the casting for Dent.

i understand and admire lewis' dedication, even if it is a bit extreme. but i don't think that would matter much when it applies to ra's. i'd be afraid he would try to make the character his own, and in doing so, ruin the character. and yeah, going through lengths like that for such a small supporting role wouldn't be worth it.

but man...when i first heard they wanted to cast viggo i thought "hell yeah. he's perfect." and then they cast neeson. and i thought "yeah, he can probably do it too." and then they said "no wait, neesan is ducard. watanabe is ra's." and i thought "hmm, ra's wasn't asian, but watanabe is a good actor, he could do it."

but i'm rambling now. point is, yeah lewis could have done it and yes, his dedication would have been wasted, which is probably why he turned it down in the first place.

yeah, i remember that. but at the time i thought "well jett was just wrong and he's trying to make himself look like less of an idiot." cuz he was saying "they are gonna announce it this month. that's it. this month"

and then he was like "oh, the guy turned it down so now they gotta look for someone else."

i'm not saying it isn't true. i just don't necessarily think everything jett says it law, y'all. but it certainly could be true. and damon has that nice guy demeanor that would have been spot on for dent.

YT Fail.

All you need to do is from the link to the vid, take the characters after the equals sign and paste them between the [YT]

so if I wanted to post the video for this link

I would just put the XS3hm0ZWj4Y in the

Actually, I remember that it was Viggo Mortensen who turned down the role of Ra's/Ducard and Daniel Day Lewis was approached for the role. Also, Chris Cooper was offered the role of Gordon but turned it down. So, they considered Kurt Russell and Dennis Quaid for the part, before eventually turning to Gary Oldman, which turned out to be great!

Aaron Eckhart and Heath ledger both kicked the **** out of their roles. It couldn't work any other way for me. I trusted the casting from the beginning.

Yeah, I agree. The casting for TDK was perfect. From the mob gangs (Maroni, The Chechen, Gamble, etc.) to the bartender who says "I gotta take a leak". Even Gyllenhaal was an improvement over Katie "Miss Cruise" Holmes. Perfect casting for every single character. The best one being Heath Ledger!

Yeah, Nolan knows what he's doing. I'm so glad he's calling the shots.

I think Damon as Harvey would've been strange, and hard to see past the celebrity. How could you not see Jason Bourne the whole time he's playing Harvey?

I love the fact that Eckhart is a great actor, and his movie roles aren't as well known. For some people, this is one of the first movies they've seen in him, and he's terrific. He'll always be known for his excellent work as Harvey Dent/Two-Face!

Personally, I'm completely happy with everyone we got in these films, aside from TomKat. *shudders*

I've never understood the fascination with Crispin Glover and Paul Bettany as Joker. I mean, c'mon. Has anyone ever thought about how the Bettany rumor could've started?

Maybe someone was like "Dude from 'A Knight's Tale' is in talks for Joker" and instead of thinking of Heath, they "jumped" to Paul Bettany. It's possible, isn't it?
