Criterion Collection Thread

Heard a rumor Silence of the Lambs is getting a new Criterion Blu-Ray.

Heads up. Barnes and Nobles 50% Off Criterion sale begins July 11.

The sale usually lasts 3 - 4 weeks.

What I plan to get during the sale.

Grabbed Godzilla, Lady Snowblood, and Seven Samurai.

I picked up Straw Dogs and The Killers. I love Peckinpah and I find the 1948 version of The Killers to be one of the most underrated noir films. I've never seen the Seigel version.

Glad the sale lasts until August 7th. Gives me time to get a paycheck. I definitely want to get my hands on Throne of Blood.

I really wish Criterion would do a blu ray release of Jarmusch's Ghost Dog. There's still no US blu ray for that movie.

I picked up my first Criterion for Homicide from David Mamet. Got it for 5 bucks after everything and I've never seen it but it's my type of movie so what the hell.

You guys should checkout the various actors/directors going into the criterion closet. They are all like kids in a candy store. That recent Jenkins vid is hilarious, can't link cause of bad language, he filled his bag.

For those that have seen it, what is your opinion on Beauty and The Beast?

I can't say I enjoyed it, but it is one of those things you have to see if you're into film history.

Of course this s*** happens like a few months after I get the blu-ray that's already out.

I would love a Criterion blu ray of Half Nelson.

There have been some odd stirrings going on regarding some of the Godzilla films as some directors names started being listed on Criterions website without any associated films.

Now, Stars has begun streeing the Showa Era Godzilla films but their thumbnails are criterion covers!

Hmmm. Some new Criterion Godzilla blu rays would be most welcome :D

Ohhh, my poor wallet.

Mechagodzilla and Son of Godzilla? Hell yes, the two Showa films that are in limbo.

EDIT: Seriously excited for this. DAM and Megalon are also great, as the current releases aren't great and way too expensive. Will be worth the price for the Criterions, though. Here's hoping a deal is made with Section 23 for Sea Monster, Hedorah, and Gigan.
