Critics' Reviews: Discussion

36%? Wow, it's hard to believe the X-Men franchise used to be able to reach 88%.

I guess the fourth movie curse is in effect, even if this film isn't as bad as Superman IV or Batman and Robin.

You know if I watch this movie next week and really like it, I'm going to be really pissed at all of you!

IMO it's a hard movie to hate. With that said, it's hard to love. I just think "meh" whenever I think of the movie. It's 5-6/10 territory.

I'm just waiting for all the people who said that those who watched the leak didn't see the "real film" to come online after their midnight showings and realize that the movie was almost EXACTLY the same; to the point where there wasn't ANY additional footage.

Boxofficeguru.com is predicting an $85M opening weekend.

Too bad boxofficemojo has stopped doing predictions. Do you guys know of any other sites?

Watching this later tonite...hope its atleast fun :(

At times like this I wish Peter McCabe was still around, I'd like to read his response to the incredible 37% on RT. :hehe:

I may unban him just for the sheer entertainment of it all.

Jokes aside however, these reviews are brutal. I honestly thought it'd be in the 50's or low 60's on RT. Never once expected it to drop to the low 30s.

Wouldnt' be surprised one bit if it made that much. The general audience will eat it up. Im expecting a significant drop in the second week however.

If this movie doesn't make it to 200M...Idk if it will have any sequals.

I felt the same way. I dislike the movie but the 30s is pretty rough. I was thinking 50s all the way.

And I didn't know Pete was banned; it'd be great to see him defend the movie after everyone explains that it is EXACTLY the same as the leak.

Oh, but dont we all want First Class to come out, so we can see Jean and Cyclops alive again, and a new continuity that renders X1 and X2 completely moot????

With fox it's really hard to tell good news from bad news. wow...

I want a reboot 10 years from now. I actually don't want a "first class" as I fear its gonna be the same quality, continuity and crew as X3 and Wolverine.

He's in line right now after spending his life savings on tickets to inflate the box office.

That is most likely what will happen whether intentional or not.

I hope it tanks...OK I know it won't the first week but I hope it fails to meet box office expectations.

You are not Storm:cmad: You were deleted to get extra showings in:o

I'm loving every bad review and I too hope it underperforms at the box office. Wish it would bomb, but I know that isn't happening.

Hopefully it will do badly enough to end this franchise though. I want to see X-Men done right.

That sounds like a reasonable prediction. Comingsoon.net predicted it would make 92million. Most websites have it in the 80-100million range. The movie blog predicted 60million but, I don't think it will make anything below 70. However, if it makes less than 80mil during the first weekend the film won't break the 200million barrier. I'm predicting for this film to end up with an epic second weekend dropoff.

Its time for Marvel to get them back honestly. I don't see Fox making a good X-Men film in the near future. Upon hearing they hired a CW writer to write the script for "First Class" to give it that "teenage edge" I regurgitated a bit into my mouth.

Heres hoping for the upcoming Marvel films to be fantastic and big money earners so they can at least buy the rights from Fox (although I'm sure Rothman would ask for a ridiculous amount that would turn off Marvel studios quite quickly).

Marvel needs at least one if its main franchises back (Spider-Man being with Sony currently and X-Men with Fox). X-Men needs to go back to its respective owners. I'm hoping Paramount and Marvel can somehow level with Fox so they relinquish them for the right price.

I doubt Fox is going to give up the license anytime soon. It would be nice if they just distributed while Marvel produced. Like I believe Marvel did with Paramount and Universal for Iron Man and Incredible Hulk.

Yes but even then Fox would interfere by cutting it to 90 minutes. :hehe:

But your probably right Fox will not give up the rights so easily.
