customs

Wow. You got mad skills brotha. Congrats on your prices to, man. Awesome!!

Good Ones:
-Rachel Grey
-Modern Storm (she'd be better if her skin tone didn't look sickly)
-Emma (she' good don't get me wrong, but she's missing a slightly *****y look imo, and looks more like a playmate)
-Modern Storm 2 (the previous one looks more professional imo)

Great Ones:
-Nightcrawler
-Polaris
-Warbird
-Warpath
-X-force Archangel
-kitty pryde
-banshee (give him a collar and he'd look amazing)

Not so good or great ones:
-Cable (quality is good.. but something just seems way off at the same time)
-Omega Sentinel (not feeling the paint job)
-Joker (he looks like he got botox)
-Dark Phoenix (not liking the head or the paint at all)
-US agent (not feeling the paint app)

now... people who know me on here know im picky with custom legends... so that being said the ones i think are good and great... are quite high, so you def have skills and like your work alot

atgscl you have some real talent man, real talent, cable just looks... off but they are really well done, the way i did the joker makeup wwas as if it was freshly aplied my 5 incher was painter to be a little more messy with the streak goin up his head

my moms camera doesnt have a macro option thing, and i took more photos today, with my 2 year old neice in the way, i mean she threw the freakin hulkat bane! that takes some muscle!:oldrazz:

thanks for the compliments guys! I agree with ya Spidey Boy, I am super picky about customs too. Matter of fact, I actually dont like most of my customs. I am always unhappy with some parts of every custom. Some of those customs that weren't as good as others were earlier ones I had done.

Sabentooth, email me the pics and Ill get em up

aint got the on the cp yet, ill try later, any you guys
on teh figurerealm?

Hey I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I want to start working on customes but I don't know the right stuff to use. What do I need to use for molding things, what type of paint is best?

I assume by molding you mean sculpting right? For sculpting any Apoxies are good to use. Air drying stuff is the easiest to work with. I prefer Aves Apoxie Sculpt.

For paints, you can go the cheap route but will be left with so-so results or you can get more expensive paints and have nicer looking customs.
The cheap paints are the craft paints that are about $1 per bottle. These include brands like FolkArt, AppleBarrel, and ColorArt which can be found at any craft stores. Good Quality paints like Testors, Citadel, and Model Masters are about $3-4 per tiny bottle and can be found at hobby shops. Make sure whatever type of paint you get is Acrylic and NOT Enamel. Some plastics do not let the enamel properly dry and will be sticky forever.

finished sculpting batman mask today just waiting for the primer to dry
Can't seem to find my box of citadel paints tho which is annoying
Will try and post pics of the head tomorrow

whats the base?, and rockwell, if your to cheap to spring for aves, i use epoxie putty from the hardware store, and my paints are those cheap ass craft paints of my moms, and for giving me **** about useing my parents stuff, i dont amke any money and got cleaned out by some company my parents owed money to, which is why i will never bak, and why im incredibly cheap, i have llike tweny bucks

Thanks for the info. Once I get some extra money I'm going to try to make a Slash custome from the Leonardo NECA figure. It should be fairly simple. The hardest part will be adding things to the shell. If that goes well I want to make a Tokka custome after. But this requires money and moving and crap cuts into the extra money for figure funds

Atgscl Dude I love the Rachel Grey very nice! :brucebat: Good work.

Sabetoonth - If you really truly want to be a customizer. Here is some advice, coming someone who learned the hard way. Cheaper the product cheaper the custom will look. No matter if it is paints, clays, etc etc.

It will take time to get the right tools and the right equipment. I got in roughly 05'-06' using nothing. Now I have better paints, better clays, etc ... my customs are just now coming out better. Borrow a camera , save for a better clay ......take your time practice. You'll do fine.

Try to find a group , or a style, and theme. Stay with that theme until your able to build up an inventory of tools and customs. Then branch out to others.

:woot: I build up more of a resume before i start offering to take jobs. A webpage, good pics, list of customs etc etc

passion, your on the realm arent you!? i think ive seen some of yourstuff, and yeah i was at hobbgy twon usa a few weeks ago, would a bought some paint but didnt have any cash on me, i looked around, and i found heaven, i started with heroclix actually, and ive got a con artist i repainted into a hooker, a spidey was repainted to movie black spidey, a broke wolvierine was turned zombie, and spare hobgoblin was turned demo, i need money and thats why ive offered my services, so ican get the good stuff

to be fair you sound as if you're doing pretty simple customs... esp from what we've seen so far... i mean the con artist in hero clix already looked like a hooker... lol

well painting the fish net stockings was a ***** and it looks like it was made out of rope and not nylon, some most of tis is pretty simple, the black spidey and reds kull are probably the most advanced stuff ive done
