Not even top 5, and certainly not from a money making perspective. They made a lot of money off this and eventually it will stabilize.Worst launch ever?
I adore video games as a storytelling medium but the ludonarrative has to be consistent the story they're trying to tell which is another thing the Deus Ex games do exceptionally well. The original Deus Ex was made in direct contrast to Daggerfall. They didn't set out to make the biggest and expansive world, Deus Ex is focused on being the most detailed and interactive city block you can explore. With Red Dead 2 specifically, the design decisions directly conflict with the story and the characters are so stupid because of this, the entire game comes off as a wild west version of Trailer Park Boys.I only played about 10-15 hours. Not big on the base stuff, or the tedium of every little thing you do in the game. But I remember the horse and shooting being good. Been a while though.
I am a FromSoft, Platinum and good Capcom kind of guy. Give me the quality gameplay and a world I believe in to have some fun, and you pretty much have me.
One employee asked the board why it had said in January that the game was “complete and playable” when that wasn’t true, to which the board answered that it would take responsibility. Another developer asked whether CD Projekt’s directors felt it was hypocritical to make a game about corporate exploitation while expecting that their employees work overtime. The response was vague and noncommital.
Many industry observers have wondered why Cyberpunk 2077, which was first announced in 2012 and was delayed three times in 2020, still appears to be unfinished. Several current and former staff who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 have all said the same thing: The game’s deadlines, set by the board of directors, were always unrealistic. It was clear to many of the developers that they needed more time.

Idk this is pretty unprecedented. Not only are they gonna miss out on sales from the biggest shopping season of the year but CD Projekt's rep has been completely destroyedNot even top 5, and certainly not from a money making perspective. Funny, I already did that.I will punch the Doritos Pope if it gets Best Game Direction as the 2021 Game Awards.
The devs have every right to be angry at the higher management for this **** show.
What, you don't agree with Naughty Dog getting that award last week for TLoU 2?I will punch the Doritos Pope if it gets Best Game Direction as the 2021 Game Awards.

I've been thinking about this, and it makes me super sad.Their stock price has been decimated. And with an angry board, they are ripe for a buyout.
They won't lose money on this. I am rather sure of that, because even if half the people who bought it already return it, that will see be somewhere in the realm of 5-7 million sold in the first month. If we are talking actual bad launches, we have seen some games lose insane amounts of money. EA had that with both Andromeda and Anthem back to back. This might ruin CDPR's rep, but they will be eventually be fine. Especially with the launch of Witcher 4 which is definitely coming next now.Idk this is pretty unprecedented. Sack the board now.
The Witcher 4.I also suspect this. Oh well no great loss at this point.
I’m wondering what they plan to do sequel wise? I can’t imagine people being excited for cyberpunk 2078 after all this. So switch the name but set it in the same universe? Like solarpunk 2077 or something? Or just not bother. See with games like this it’s all about the franchise investment
EA might buy them. Which is about the worst possible scenario. EA would have them make a game completely out of CDPR's wheelhouse and fill it with microtransactions and when it fails EA will shut CDPR down. GOG would definitely be killed.Microsoft has bought Bethesda, Obsidian, InXile. Wouldn't be surprised if they swooped in on CDPR.
I'm getting tired of Chinese censors and their snowflake leader having any say about the entertainment I consume.CDPR really do deserve any backlash they get and more. Not threats of violence. That's gross and should never be a thing. But actual backlash for their business practices? Well deserved imo. I mean look at this. All this talk of the Cyberpunk culture and them being pro consumer. And they pulled a game because they are afraid of China. Nothing is less Cyberpunk then giving into the system:
CD Projekt under fire for dramatic U-turn on Devotion GOG release
90 gigs of patches and counting. In 8 days.
Glad I dodged this bullet. I was looking forward to this game but the delays and my aversion to preorders with a combination of lack of time coupled with other games I want to get to first (currently Ghost of Tsushima) meant I held off. Now in a year or two when the game is actually finishedI will give it a go.
