In a victory for pastafarians, the Czech Republic has recognized the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster by allowing pastafarian Lukas Novy to wear a pasta strainer in his official identification photo, according to a a New York Daily News report issued Friday, Aug. 2

Novy, a committed pastafarian and resident of the Czech Republic, insisted that he be allowed to wear a pasta strainer on his head while being photographed for an official government ID. Czech officials ruled that the nation’s religious liberty laws required this accommodation, and in so doing implicitly recognized the authenticity of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

According to a government spokesperson, Novy’s request “complies with the laws of the Czech Republic where headgear for religious or medical reasons is permitted if it does not hide the face.”

Novy is a member of the “Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster,” a satirical religion which teaches that the universe was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster, an alien creature composed of pasta and meatballs.

I find this farce of a religion offensive. Governments should only recognize real religions, like those of us who follow the Great Green Arkleseizure. There will be a reckoning when the Great White Handkerchief comes. :o

They've been drinking too much absinthe.

Awesome. We've started the Cthulhu thread at the right time.

Those Czechs are always the first to know.

Ha, the Czechs are great. Not so great at eurovision though

The Flying Spaghetti Monster sacrificed his only son, Chef Boyardee, to appease himself. Be thankful for everything!

Ah, so that's the reason we hunt around for spongey, rubbery meatballs every Easter.
