Logan Dafne Keen as X-23

I just reading the Empire article about the movie...on the day they shot the scene where they’re in the truck and Logan had to shout “SHUT THE (BLEEP) UP!!” in her face over so many takes, Hugh walked over to Dafne’s mother and apologized for the language he was using.

Dafne’s mom told him not to worry about it...and she asked him if he realized that Dafne had called him the c-word in Spanish when she was screaming back at him. :funny:

That's hilarious !

The funniest part is that Jim cut out Dafne's best likes in that scene according to her.

lol, so far i havent seen any dafne keen interview in english? does she have a british accent?

I just wanna say Dafne Keen was fantastic in this movie. This kid is going places. What an amazing young actress. Just her facial expressions, when shes angry or about to go in badass mode she SELLS IT. It is incredibly difficult to find kid actors who can pull that off. Shes like an even more violent version of Millie Brown.
That's what struck me...her "rage face". Wow...pretty effective. It's something about her eyebrows. Perfect scary face.

Other scenes where she just had to sell narrative without speaking like in the store were equally as impressive. Hope she doesn't peak too soon. I thought Natalie Portman was never as good as she was in The Professional again.

Now that's funny.

edit: Oh....after reading through the thread, thank god I had no interest in this movie and skipped reading this stuff. It was so cool to see the foot claw without knowing about it in advance. I also assumed she was a mutant but didn't know she was a Wolverine clone so that was a cool surprise as well. Also didn't know she was going to be mute through the first part of the movie.

She was amazing. She'll win an Oscar one day.

It's such an impressive debut on the world stage. She delivered a performance where she went toe to toe with both Stewart and Jackman.

Dafne was perfect.

She was. Her English was surprisingly good. I wish we saw more foot claw action. She would be a great Wednesday Adams if they do an Adams family reboot.

The more I think about her performance the more it grows, even though I haven't seen the movie more than once. I definitely hope that doesn't change on multiple viewings because I'm so happy and impressed with her performance.

I'm assuming she was raised at least primarily in the U.K. considering the accent but she definitely put on the Spanish accent.

I haven't seen her in any interviews. So she has an English accent then?

She was great in this, very impressive.

Although I'd be wary of bringing her back given how the film ended. I'd imagine if we do see her again they'll use an older version of the character.

Cool interview from the creator of X-23, Craig Kyle, where he mentions how he liked the film, his ideas for a spinoff, and how he disliked how Marvel aged up Laura.

Craig has also talked a lot more about Laura's creation as the movie came closer to premiering on his social media, and one of the most interesting things I thought was how the original model for Laura was also 11 years old - the same age as Dafne.

There's a video out there (might be gone now) of Dafne from when she was 9 speaking perfect English. So yeah, she speaks English fine. It's just that she, being only like 12, just hasn't done a lot of press for this film besides a few interviews.

I will say, Logan convinced me to start picking up some of the X-23 comics.

Nice explained. I agree on all that.

I also like how X-24 is essentially what Stryker intended for Logan. Its how he could have ended up. Its everything Logan tried not to become. It played so well into Logan's final words "dont be what they make you to be"

That's going to be the crux of Laura's story moving forward. She's going to set out to get the revenge her father and mutant-kind deserves. But can she keep her humanity in tact as she travels down that road? Or in her quest for vengeance does she become the very thing Logan didn't want for her?

Normally I don't want to s**t on a movie that hasn't come out yet.

But I'd laugh like hell if a review for the upcoming Justice League movie goes like "there are seven superheroes in this movie, yet all of them combined cannot hold the audience's attention like Logan's Dafne Keen."

She was incredible. Probably the best new child actor I've seen in awhile. I haven't been impressed by a child performance in a film since Natalie Portman in Leon. Here's hoping she goes places after this, and not necessarily as Laura. Though I wouldn't mind seeing her as X-23 again, but knowing Fox's track record, there's a chance the next X-movie she stars in could be crao. Hope it doesn't turn out like that though.

It sounds like Mangold would be up for an X-23 movie. I imagine that Fox would be willing to allow him to do that, especially after Logan's performance.
