The Amazing Spider-Man Daily Bugle. It's Hip!

I remember reading ASM and finding darkness and light. Lightness in quips, spidey's with common crooks, Quips with super villains at first, etc. Darkness in the Subject Matter and GREAT storylines.. (Death of Gwen, Harry's Drug Issues, Kid who Collected Comic Books, Spidey No More, etc.) A pity that the "GREAT FAN AND KEEPER OF THE FAITH" Raimi.. Does NOT use the Rich volumes as a blueprint more.

It is a matter of timing, walking that fine line of knowing WHEN to have levity, and when to be subtle in that approach.. ane when NOT.

Spidey Quips. Definitely needed, and SHOULD be more of a trademark of the Movie Spider-Man. BUT, with that said, he SHOULD NOT be quiping in the final Battle.. PERIOD.

Quiping with common theives... Brilliant!

Quiping with a SUPER Powered Villain in the FINAL battle.. Not

BUT the BIG THING is.. No More Cutesy Kiddo Shots.. SHEEESH.

And the scene in TDK where Joker is clapping is ANYTHING but Humor. Brilliant it Be NO DOUBT! GREATNESS, thy name be. Great Scene

Spider-Man 3's humor was too much, but I think the other films, particularly Spidey 2, were really funny when they wanted to be.

"He was the only one who could've stopped Octavius."

" :| ..... yes "

Isn't this like the third or fourth thread in a month you've made like this? It's kind of spamming.

And no, I think JK Simmons is one of the shining lights of all three movies and I do not want to change the Bugle scenes at all. It would seem silly to do so.

- Most of the Bruce Wayne scenes like walking into the party with a bunch of girls on his arm, being asleep at the board meeting with Lau, ribbing Harvey Dent over the ballet, absconding with the entire russian ballet etc
- Lucius Fox's sensational handling of Reese over the blackmail
- The Joker provided loads of laughs, most notable one being the whole nurse sequence
- Batman delivering Lau to Police HQ with a sign on him saying he's to be delivered to Gordon, ribbing the fake Batman over his hockey pad outfit, tossing the cocky Maroni off the roof etc.

Plenty of humor. It was just more subtle and not as over the top as the Spidey movies. Although the guy in the SWAT truck with Gordon was supposed to be funny, but he was just plain annoying!!!
i thought the swat guy was funny, and the bugle scenes are hilarious, the pills in sm3 killed it for me though, too over the top imo

I didn't know that part was supposed to be humorous..

yeah trying to make J. Jonah Jamieson calm and careful over his blood pressure by taking pills was kinda funny but it's not J. Jonah Jamieson. I like the loud obnoxious JJJ.

it works on levels

it's funny because of the cliche (seen by JJJ reaction to Hoffman's delivery)

it's also sincere in that Hoffman delivers it honestly.

that whole scene is so well done. Humorous and inspirational at the same time. Culminating in the 'He's back' bugle headline and spidey tearing right through it off to his confrontation with ock. Act 3 of Spidey 2 is really iconic IMO.

Spidey 3 tried it with the whole, back in red/blue moment when he returns to save MJ and happens to land near an american flag. kind of a miss IMO

I agree.

And I found the "It's hip. It's how. Buy it now." scene funny. Go ahead and sue me if you want :o .

that scene wasn't funny

but i did think it was funny when he said something like

JJJ: he wants a job and he wants a job...doesn't anybody care what i want?

Hoffman: I do

JJJ: Shut up. Get out.

then again, spidey has always been campy, even at the darkest times, it had cheese. Batman, on the other hand, has pretty much always been dark.

Adam West, Joel Schumacher and the decade of the 60s would disagree. :o

;) :woot:

I don't see the problem with the humor{JJJ is HILARIOUS}. Besides why does every superhero movie need to be dark and serious like TDK?

I never said dark. But serious, yes. If it has to get a bit more serious to get rid of the bad humor then yes. Why is it when I talk about a serious Spider-Man movie people jump right to Batman? Or jump to the assumtion it has to be dark? All I really asked for was a Spidey movie that doesn't have bad humor. If it's between the "Bugle it's hip it's now it's wow and how!" "wicked cool!" a dancing Peter while dressed like an emo and a serious Spider-Man movie, I'll take the serious one any day of the week.

I'm with you Dac... I want a more serious, mature film. These films have been nothing more than PuppyLove, juvenile antics & situations, and special effects(eye-candy)... which I don't mine the special effect; just, it doesn't have to engross the film. Know what I mean? :(

Also one of the funniest moments in the movie is when Bruce is going to reveal himself as Batman and Alfred asks him what he will say, Bruce responds he will tell them all it was Alfred's idea.

I also can't stand how whenever Spidey swings to the scene someone has to shout "LOOK! IT'S SPIDER-MAN!" or "GO GET HIM SPIDEY" Why do they need to announce it all the time?

It's funny because by this point wouldn't the New Yorkers be like "Oh here comes Spider-man. Must be 8 o'clock." He's like a landmark now. Everyone in the city has a story about him.

"They found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But, in spite of everything youve done for them, eventually theyll get bored s***less of you. Why bother?".

"Cause its...I dont know".

The movies need to have more villains come to the Daily Bugle in order to get a message to Spider-Man. In the original comics Ock, Mysterio, Scorpion, and others, all contacted Spider-Man through the Bugle.
"Post this message to Spider-Man tomorrow! You better, or I'll be back!"

And of coarse Jameson loved it, it was great publicity, and the chance to take down Spider-Man. But he would eventually get in trouble for his involvement, if he was proven to be involved.

I would love to see a seen where a big, costumed, brightly colored, bad guy like Kraven, Scorpion, Mysterio, Electro, Vulture, someone, walking through the Daily Bugle like normal.
