Drama Damon Lindelof Developing The Leftovers at HBO

I see a lot of similarities with Lost in terms of characters and tone. We don't have a polar bear, but we have a deer. The father/son troubled relationship is there too. There's no 'others', but the GR (there was an episode in Lost, I think it was Stranger in a Strange Land, where they were all dressed in white too). And things like premonitions, luck and all those topics.

Yes it's tomorrow. HBO doesn't air new episodes over holiday weekends. Which is why it didn't air last week.

I'm assuming that Laurie will make it so we get another season of her running the GR. If she were to die tonight during whatever they're planning it would leave a power vacuum that would ruin the GR subplot. Plus Tom is finally coming back to Mapleton it seems, so we'd be robbed of any interaction there.

Last episode. :( I want it to last forever.

WTF? My brain is done......

This show is an emotional roller coaster. Can't tell what's real and what's not. But yet, it's so freakin' good. :(

Talk about a non-ending ending. :p Sucks that we have to wait a year now for more. :(

HBO is the best channel out there. :)

I thought it was a pretty damn good ending, yet a strange one. It was like they weren't sure if HBO was going to renew them when they wrote it. Or maybe they figured to leave it in and make it a happy ending or at least as happy a one you're going to get with this show.

Kevin got his wish from Wayne. He got his family back....sorta. :cwink:

Finally caught up for the finale. I enjoyed the show a lot more in one chunk rather than weekly pieces. Anyways I just started the finale, and was pleasantly surprised to hear Apocalyptica's cover of Nothing Else Matters playing over the Guilty Remnant scene at the beginning. One of my favorite covers.

I was trying to figure out what that song was. :p

Yeah, I caught the song. Just didn't know who did the cover. It was great though.

The show has some of the best music and possibly my favorite score of any television show. Just so damn emotional and heavy and I love it. Using Apocalyptica's cover was the icing on the cake for me.

They seem to recycle a lot of the music, especially the main theme in certain points of every episode. I like the use of classical music, I'd just like to see them widen their song choice next season.

Even if the show doesn't get renewed that works as an ending. The GR fulfilled their purpose of reminding everyone what they lost and helped them accept their situation rather than running from it.

I wonder if that's why the dogs were acting so crazy? Dogs can sense and react to human emotions and a bunch of people being ripped apart by extreme guilt and aggressive depression could be enough to drive any dog up the wall.

So anyone think Garvey's wish with the dying cult leader was to have his family back?

Totally, that was his wish... all you needed was to see it in Garvey's eyes.

Damn that was a beautiful episode. Ever moment from Nora's deafening cry to the moment she smiles with the baby was stunning.

I don't care about answers or clues to things, as long as we keep getting these emotions from the characters.

Sort of happy Wayne is done, it's nice that his character won't weigh down the plot in the future but the little 'legacy' he left has that right kind of magic/hope he instilled.

Also, just seeing Garvey smoke during this episode made episode 9's placement feel better and not so random like it did two weeks ago.

I need that score, it's so amazing... anyone know of bands/music like that that's more piano driven? I love Explosions In The Sky and Sigur Rós... but they're more guitar/strings driven and don't have the classical tone of The Leftovers score I want to find.

I hope they at least explain later why Wayne was injured, stabbed, whatever. He didn't seem sick, anyhow.
