Sci-Fi Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator film ‘Prey’

Sounds like a good thing I didn’t watch The Predator.

Did think the escape scene was cool, though!

Wow I actually liked that teaser trailer quite a bit, but my expectations for this are so low that I honestly don't see how it could be any worse than The Predator, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The premise has potential, and the period setting could be really interesting, but it all comes down to the writing and the execution when it comes to making or breaking this movie.

Also, while it might not matter to some, I really hope this is a hard R Predator flick.

Hulu has confirmed the film is Rated R!

I've said it before, I'll say it again: what made the first two Predator movies work is that they were effectively riffs/deconstructions of then-popular movie genres, by way of "drop an OCP alien into it". Predator wasn't "about" the alien, it was "about" 80s action movies. Predator wasn't "about" the alien, it was "about" 90s buddy cop movies. All the subsequent, bad, Predator movies miss this, and instead try to be "about". . . themselves.

If you want to really revive the Predator franchise, your starting point needs to be "What genre and style of movie am I trying to explore, by way of alien big game hunter?"

I liked the teaser, but think it could have been 30 seconds longer.

Still, happy they didn’t show everything all at once.

By that standard, the next move should be Batman vs Predator.

Hey, I'd watch that.

For the next actual sequel, why not just go for broke and bring Dutch back as a main focus? Schwartzenegger WANTS to do it (He even voiced for DLC for the video game recently!) and the new Halloween movies proved bringing the original star back as a main focus can work, so why not?

Terminator tried that and it didn't work either.

To be fair, Scwarzenegger 'returning' to Terminator wasn't exactly a huge deal since it was hardly the first time he'd come back to that particular property.

Which people are bringing Schwarzenegger back to Predator in your hypothetical scenario?
People who actually understand what made the first movie work, which is what Dan Trachtenberg clearly is doing to an extent.

I always thought Predators would have been the perfect opportunity to bring him back. He could have been the Laurence Fishburne role but give him a heroic arc instead of going crazy.
