You are right, Stiltman is probably the most expensive villain to do.... and one of the most ridiculous one ! I think it they should stay away from Him, Matador or Leap Frog. They are goofy villains that may detract from the general tone (I'm sure DD should have gritty and threatening foes, and I have yet to find Leap Frog or Stiltman scary or threatening) Turk, on the other, would work just fine.

Mister Hide can be tricky to do on budget. Bushwacker is a very interesting concept (the fanatic religious in "crusade" with a bionic arm). But, yes, his arm would require a lot of CGI.

As for the other foes... the owl may probably done by traditional methods, but his power of flight may require CGI.

Bullseye doesn't require CGI, same for the Kingpin. Killgrave just need... a good purple make-up ! Typhoid Mary requires CGI for her pyrokinetic powers. Deathstalker, well, camera trick may do 90 % of the job (very easy to do) with CGI to complete when he cross the walls (not a very heavy and costly job) Mister Fear / Cranston... that's interesting. He will require a lot of CGI for his hallucinogenic gaz.

As for the Gladiator... I don't know

Do you think they could just make Bushwackers arm static instead of a constantly morphing one just have it look awesome at all times?

I can't wait until we get some casting news, and for when this starts filming. We're sure as hell gonna get some set pictures considering they're gonna be filming it right in New York. Marvel are probably going to cast almost as many supporting characters in these 4 shows(plus a miniseries) as the rest of the MCU so far.

Yeah, Bushwaker's arm could just be a non-morphing prosthetic arm with a gun attachment. The morphing effect isn't super important, I don't think.

Mr. Fear's illusions could easily be done with practical effects, no need for a lot of CGI, I just hope they get his costume right, I like what Brubaker did with it, he looked more like the Grim Reaper and less like Skeletor.

I think if they wanted have a moment of comedy before the darker main story line, they could use either Matador or Leap-Frog as easily defeated villains, thwarted in the first couple of minutes of the show. Stilt-Man would be too expensive for that role though, however none of those characters necessary.

I like Mr. Hyde and Death-Stalker, but neither of them are necessary and whether they appear or not will depend on the tone of show, whether they went to stick to solely film noir stories or have some sci fi/fantasy stories in the mix.

To be honest, very few villain that are really necessary (except Bullseye and the Kingpin)

The serie being part of the MCU, Mister Hyde or Deathstalker wouldn't be out of tone. They are sci/fi villains in a sci / fi world.

But I'm sure that the DD serie will be (and has to be) very dark and serious, with a touch of humour (Matt is a dark and tormented guy, but, like Kesel and Waid show us, he can also be a funny man at time)

In fact, Deathstalker would be the perfect character if Matt has to question himself about his action as Daredevil (after all, Philip Wallace Sterling is turned into the Deathstalker due to Daredevil)

And I agree with you, the Michael Lark design of Mister Fear / Cranston (If they made Mister Fear, I hope that they use Cranston only, the Mister Fear storyline from the comic is too convoluted and he is the most interesting of the bunch) is the way to go, a little more Dark Vador and Grim reaper, and a little less like Skeletor.

I really hope that they use the serie to bring some lesser known villains to the GA and "revamp" them so that the comic book writer will have the idea to use them more often in the book.

I think that the Daredevil rogue gallery is not that bad (some are really, really bad like stiltman, leap frog, Angar, etc), but many are villain that can be very interesting if they use them more often (why didn't the post Vol 2 writers use Karen's father in the book, for exemple). Iron Man had a worst rogue gallery, the two third of them were dated cold war dinosaurs. And the movies revamped them in some interesting way (well, maybe except for the Mandarin, but that's another story)

But, well, 13 episodes are short. I'm curious what their future plan for Daredevil will be after "the defenders".

A Daredevil TV series has the potential to be the best superhero TV series in history. His civilian job, powers/ abilities, origin, supporting characters can all work for a TV series. Even his villains arent bad.

As for the tone, would you guys mind if they go the Mark Waid tone for Daredevil (quirkier, more bizarre, funnier, wittier, more superhero-ish, but still emotional and dark)? I like it in the comics and could even work in the movies (to comtrast from Batman), but I would prefer the grittier, more gtrounded and darker Brubaker/ Bendis approach for the TV series, but keep Waid's characterization of Murdock (less emo, brooding, and whiney).

To be honest, I can see the way Waid portrayed Matt in the comic on screen (the funny clever guy on the surface with a very dark and tormented core), but I clearly don't see the tone of his comics being brought on TV.

I'm much more interested in a dark, gritty and serious tone. But not necessarily a completely "down to earth" / Nolan realistic series (like the first season of arrow)

Of course DD can and will fight normal powerless thug, but he isn't Frank Castle. Of course he is a lawyer who fight any kind of injustice (even the social ones) in and outside court, and I want to see that. But I can see a mix between the noir style from Bendis, and a much more urban dark "gothic" nightmare (like the Roger McKenzie stories). So something dark, urban, gritty, street level, but not 100% realistic.

To me, it's Matt's job and the social agenda he has that ground the title, not the villains. Matt is the protector of the oppressed in his small corrupted Hell's kitchen, but he is also a guy with super senses. It's not an ultimate power, but it isn't really realistic if you think of that.

It's funny, because the idea of "Smallville" came indirectly... from a failed Daredevil TV show that Frank Miller himself tried to bring on screen in the 90's !

Having failed for I don't know what kind of reason, The DD show about his pre superhero days was made as a comic book mini series, "The Man Without Fear" by Miller and Romita Jr.

Years after, the concurrence tried to use the Miller idea for a TV show on the youth of Batman. But, with the project of a Batman year one that became later Nolan Batman Begins, they ended up doing a Superman Show instead of a Batman one.

I kind of expect it to be somewhere in between those two things. I don't see Marvel going full-on "gritty" with these shows, but I think they'll probably feel a little more grounded than the movies, being the "street-level" heroes on a TV budget and all.

I dunno, if he said he "thinks" they share them, then that means there haven't been any serious discussions about using him yet. If there had, he'd know.

They probably have talked about it, Feige just naturally builds himself an out in case he's wrong as executives are trained to do.
