Great issue! I didn't expect to see the [BLACKOUT]Rock of Eternity[/BLACKOUT]and it was kinda cool when [BLACKOUT]batman turned into ''bat god''[/BLACKOUT].

And Hal mentioned the fight with the New Gods. But he goes on the run almost immediately after that. But that'd be easier to brush away than Steppenwolf since Hal did spend some time on Earth before going back and becoming a Renegade.

This issue was amazing too. I love how it's not a mega crossover with 50 other titles, but it still feel grand and spectacular. Johns and fabok really shine together.

I can't believe they did that Joker tease. Seriously, if this really is before the recent DC overhaul? And they pull a "well since Batman isn't in the chair, he doesn't remember what he learned" kind of thing, this will have been nothing but a conversation starter.

I trust Geoff Johns, believe me, but even for him? This may be too much. Especially with Batman's response.

We probably won't find out until 2-3 years later. This is like the tease of what Fury whispered to Thor that made him unworthy. We probably won't find out until 3-4 arcs later. But I'm sure the tease will be hanging over the bat titles to come.

This is currently the best comic I'm reading. Issue #42 sure keeps the momentum going and has me clamoring to see what happens next.

On a side note, I absolutely love the way Fabok and Anderson are portraying Darkseid. He's like an apparition

I'm partial to collected editions anyway, single issue comics just piss me off these days. 3.99/4.99 for 30 pages of story and a s***load of ads? No thanks.

I used to wait for trades also but I started collecting monthly issues a while back because I like the anticipation for the next issue and so I can discuss them with you fine people. t:

The ads don't bother me at all anymore; even the obnoxious Nick Lachey ad is glossed over. I'm too focused on the story.

^ I'm the same way. But, I did read the first issue the other night and yeah, it was really good. Looking forward to the rest. If I'm near the LCB, I'll grab the singles... but I likely won't be, so it will probably be early next year when the hardcover comes out that I finally read the rest of this thing.

I used to wait for the collected trades too (and still do for some series), but I've been buying/collecting monthly for the past 3-4 years.

Sure, with the Canadian dollar being down the **** these months, my wallet gets really hurt but I get to manage. With Marvel doing their Secret Wars event and their upcoming reboot/relaunch that I have zero interest in, I'm pretty much DC exclusive now with some Image and Vertigo stuff here and there. Though, Vertigo's comics this fall really interest me so hopefully our loonie goes back up a bit or I'll have to remove some DC titles from my list. Finches' WW, I'm looking at you.
