Darkstalkers Film?

Wouldn't a Darkstalkers film be awesome?

For those who don't know what it is

Darkstalkers is a series of 2D fighting games produced by Capcom during the mid-1990s for the CPS II arcade hardware. There have been games in the series, as well as several other works in the other media.
The series is notable for its cast of characters based on well-known fictional monsters (hence its Japanese title, Vampire) and introduced many of the concepts used in later Capcom fighting games, including the use of 16-bit color animation sprites later employed in the Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel vs. Capcom series.

Some casting thoughts off the top of my head
Famke Janssen as Morrigan

or Charlize Theron/ Uma Turman

Scarlett Johannson as Felicia

Oded Fehr as Donovan Baine

And before you say it I know I know games to film haven't ever come out right but the right director behind this and a hard R-rating would make for an awesome film.

^imo a main problem is Hollywood has to create a story from scratch

once you take the game play away alot of games story's get exposed big time

for example a zelda movie cant exactly have link going in random dungeons looking for chests lol

I recently watched the Anime for DS and thought wow this could be turned into a great movie! It would be like Dracula meets The Fifth Element meets Sin City.

This is the first part of the first ep. There are 4 shows in all at about an hour each episode. It was more like a mini series but still really well done IMO. I would put more eps but I'm much to lazy. lol

And yeah they had to only focus on a couple characters but there are sequels for more back story on more characters right?

I would include these characters

Morrigan- She's the protagonist as far as I know
Dimitri- Main villain of the first film
Donovan - Interesting back story to explore
J.Talbain- got to have the werewolf

Don't know who else I would include but I would leave characters like Felicia.

Originally Demitri was supposed to be the main character but Morrigan became more iconic, for the story i don't think they should use the original idea of a tournament.

They should travel to many different places so that they meet other darkstalkers

I dunno about this one, they have yet to put out a decent Street Fighter film, and those characters are no where as crazy as the Darkstalker characters. Personally I would like to see Rikuo, dunno of an actor who could portray him.

If it wasn't for the Resident Evil movies I'd say I trust Hollywood more with a horror-themed game adaptation, but I can't. That said, Darkstalkers itself is a videogame adaptation of monster movies, with Dracula, Carmilla/Elizabeth Báthory, Wolf Man, Frankenstein's monster, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Mummies, etc, so you have that.

It's kinda the Monster Cereals of videogames. And damn if they aren't great games.

Demitri and Morrigan were always like co-stars a la The X-Files Mulder and Scully IMO.

I like the idea of them traveling around the world to meet the different Darkstalkers. It's kind of like the anime.

Yeah I think it all has to do with who they get to direct. Robert Rodriguez might be able to handle this best maybe with Quentin Tarantino producing. It has to be dark and hard R-rating and they seem to understand the monster movie genre and they know how to make that bit of camp with it that this film needs. They could even look at it as a kind of grindhouse film.
