"Saw" helmer Darren Bousman will next direct Akula, a heist thriller scripted by Mark Distefano, reports Variety.

Constantine is financing, and Jeremy Bolt and Paul W.S. Anderson are producing. Alex Litvak is doing a rewrite.

The project is a heist film set on a submarine, Bousman said.

"The tone is dark, but very different from the films I've directed recently," he said

.

The part I highlighted is the only reason this holds any interest for me, that is a cool concept.

Scripted by Mark Distefano, the story follows a career criminal who teams up with a female DEA agent determined to pull off a diamond heist on a submarine in constant motion, 600 meters below the surface of the ocean.
