Variety reports that Alcon Entertainment has hired Martin Campbell to direct Nagasaki Deadline, an action thriller that it is financing and co-producing with Lightstorm Entertainment and 8:38 Productions.

Alcon executives Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will produce with 8:38's Kira Davis (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Lightstorm's James Cameron, Rae Sanchini and Jon Landau.

David and Peter Griffiths (The Hunted, Collateral Damage), who wrote the original screenplay, will executive produce. William Broyles Jr. (Cast Away) is currently working on a rewrite of the story, centered on an emotionally damaged FBI agent who must decipher historic events in a desperate race to avert a terrorist plot.

Alcon is fast-tracking the project with a goal of putting it into production next year.

Campbell's currently working on the Mel Gibson vehicle Edge of Darkness and most recently directed Casino Royale

Ive pretty much enjoyed most of Campbell's work so i am interested in this, the premise could make for a good chase thriller.

Spike Lee is in talks too direct Lightstorm Entertainment's Nagasaki Deadline, a thriller to be produced by Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Kira Davis and Lightstorm's James Cameron, Jon Landau and Rae Sanchini.

The action thriller centers on an emotionally damaged FBI agent who must decipher historic events in a desperate race to avert a terrorist plot.

Written by David and Peter Griffiths for Fox, the project was later picked up by Alcon Entertainment which had William Broyles rewrite it, and set Martin Campbell to direct. Campbell went on to direct Green Lantern instead.

Nagasaki Deadline is expected to film sometime next year.

I'm interested in this one given the storyline and the talent attached.

Seeing as how Christopher Nolan has his trademark vests, will Spike Lee be wearing his trademark New York Knicks ball cap while directing this movie?

So Inside Man crossed with True Lies crossed with Knowing? Take out Knowing.
