David Lynch's F'ed Up Movies!

I have to admit that the the Black Faced thing came out of left field for me.
also, the Tiny senior citizens slipping under the door frame, that **** was out there.
but for me? the best Lynch had to offer was the Red room in twin peaks.
(get it? Red Room? In a story about a murder :D?)
that was just, when I saw it, so out there for me. and it was on flipping television......never has broadcast TV approached such greatness for me.

David Lynch is one of the few filmmakers that manage to do weird **** that ****s with your mind without sounding like he´s doing it just for the sake of it, like a lot of pretentious artsy-fartsy directors do.

Has anyone gotten a chance to see Inland Empire yet?
We dont get it til next month, Im really looking forward to it.
Season 2 of Twin Peaks is finally getting released on dvd this spring...yay.

Oh and Lost Highway:up:

LOL, why would anyone want to buy the dvd when it's on bluray?

LOL, why would quote something that is 11 years old?
You realize Blu-Ray players had just been introduced around that time right?

Mulholland Drive is overrated in a sense that it completely overshadows everything else that Lynch created. Or I saw a top list where MD is listed as no. 1 film of 2000s. I don't think that MD is better than half of his filmography.

Just by happened stance of release date but Mulholland drive IS onr of the best filsm of the 2000s, if only brcausrodt of Lynch's work was released in the 80s and 90s.

Lynch has been covering a lot of the same ground as Mulholland Drove for a while but I definitely like Lost Highway more.

I also like Lost Highway more. MD is excellent, I'm just rather unhappy that people mention only that film. Lynch is a great artist and made many great films. Not just MD.

Fire Walk With Me made Laura Palmer my favorite character in the series.

My faves are Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive. I agree they share similarities. But I still like them, though Lost Highway is one of my faves.

I was thinking of giving Wild At Heart a re-watch. I just saw "Rambling Rose" again and Laura Dern and her mother Diane Ladd are in both, though very different movies.

I got people to talk again about Lynch, when those threads were all but DESERTED SO YOU SHOULD BE MORE THANKFUL

:pcg:

There are only two films of Lynch I couldn't get into. Fire Walk with Me (and Twin Peaks for that matter) and Dune. The rest of his filmography is various degree of awesome for me.

What didn't you like in FWWM? Also, did you try to watch it again recently?

I was never into Twin Peaks as much as Lynch's movies.

I am going to try to watch Dune again, because of this remake.

I can understand that. I think FWWM is its own thing though. It really is powerful. It grabs you and never let go until the end.

So I can watch FWWM and enjoy it without having followed the TV show too much?

Some stuff may seem weird without having seen the show, but it holds up really well on its own.

You can definitely watch it as it own beast. Be warned though, it's really brutal. I always say it's a horror movie. The first 30 minutes have a lighter tone but don't be fooled, in the end, you will be exhausted.
