The styles/fashion is pretty spot on for the most part, but there are still a few anachronisms/inaccuracies:

The ladies in particular have a 21stC, Photoshop-enhanced polished perfection that simply doesn’t reflect true ’70s style; not even the Studio 54 version of the ’70s. Even when it was all glitter and glamour, there was an underlying griminess that permeated the styles of the decade. For instance, J Law’s dress should really be a nipple extravaganza. It’s exactly what those kinds of dresses were designed for. Her headlights should be popping out all over the place. And while they did a pretty great job on Bradley Cooper, there’s too much visible product in his hair. This is no time for the wet look. White-guy ‘fros of the ’70s were dry, flyaway affairs (See: every late-season Brady male). They really nailed it with Jeremy Renner, though. He looks like the mayor of the town in Jaws. Christian Bale’s also hilariously on-point for a late ’70s middle-aged sleazeball.
Yep. I think Boogie Nights got the look spot-on. This film just has the 70s too polished from what I can tell.

So I hear about this movie, a crossover with Batman, Lois Lane, Rocket Raccoon, Mystique and Hawkeye. And I say to myself... "I'm in. When does it come out?"

The AFI Fest did a tribute to David O. Russell last night and they showed the first 6 mins of AH. Here are some recaps:

Here's the full audio of Russell's talk (the 1:16:00 plays the preview they showed to the audience - it sounded pretty funny and Amy has a British accent!):

At some point, he talked about Bale's audition for Three Kings and... he did a spot on of Bale's Batman voice. :lmao:

Here's that section:

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't just shop Jennifer's promo poster to avoid possible complaints from people who get too easily offended.

Tune in tonight to catch the first #AmericanHustle tv spot during @NatGeo's #KillingKennedy at 8pm ET!

...via the official @AmericanHustle Twitter page.

I saw it. The last part with Bale and Lawrence was hilarious. :funny: Hopefully it will be up on YT soon.

Didn't catch it, damn. Well like you said it should make it's way to YouTube.

Jen's accent wasn't the best in that clip.

Christian Bale says he was "very concerned" when Jennifer Lawrence was cast in American Hustle--and told her so!

Jennifer Lawrence might be one of the most in-demand actresses working in Hollywood today, but that doesn't mean Christian Bale was sold on having her join the cast of American Hustle. We caught up with Bale at a press day for his upcoming drama Out of the Furnace this weekend, where we asked him what Lawrence brought to the table in Hustle as one of the youngest talents on a project packed with big, established names. As it turns out, Bale initially balked at having Lawrence take on the role of Rosalyn in the drama, and it was a concern he didn't shy away from sharing with both her or director David O. Russell.

"She did a wonderful job, because I have to say that, for all of her talent, I was very concerned about her when she was cast, because the character had never been written so young. And I'm old enough to be Jennifer's dad. I mean, I turn 40 next year; she's 22?" Bale told us. "And to me, it introduced a whole new aspect to the story that I expressed to David and to Jennifer herself. I said, 'With all due respect, how are we going to manage this?' And she played it so well . . . [as] a woman clearly with these sort of father issues, and so you don't question it. I was very impressed with her, how she managed to overcome the problems that I saw through it, and it's a really unique film."

That's no surprise. I remember all of us in this thread being quite surprised that Lawrence was cast in the wife role in the movie and that Amy Adams was the other role.

The AH parts from Bale's Details Magazine cover interview:

DETAILS: Your—or, I should say, Irv's—comb-over in American Hustle might be the bravest thing you've ever done.
Christian Bale: Hey, I hope I've done braver things. But it's certainly bold, isn't it? [Laughs] I've always been fascinated by the dynamics of those things, though that was something we invented. I don't know that anyone has ever done it precisely that way, with glue.

DETAILS: I don't want to neglect the beer gut. That's pretty sensational as well.
Christian Bale: [Laughs] I ended up with a herniated disk, which was a combination of the extra weight and slumping a lot. It's my own fault—nobody asked me to gain the weight. I just saw Irv as being a bit of a rolling ball, full of momentum.

DETAILS: Russell has a reputation for being a very, um, animated director.
Christian Bale: Oh, yeah, he's right on the edge of every shot. Sometimes you have to ask him to be quiet. If I was off camera or not in a scene, I'd be staring at David and cracking up because he's so in it. I swear to God, there was one day I was watching him, and it was like looking at a guy who's on trial for murder and he's watching his dead-end, cokehead, hemorrhoid-suffering court-appointed attorney ****ing up the rest of his life for him. [Laughs] It looked like he wasn't going to survive. [Laughs] I said to him, "Are you going to have a heart attack? What's going on here?" But he was having the time of his life.

DETAILS: This is the second larger-than-life character that you've created with Russell. What is it about your chemistry that results in these nut-jobs?
Christian Bale: We both love them, and I love the ideas he comes up with, and he seems to enjoy mine. We have a very humorous and at times poignant relationship. We can knock each other senseless—not physically, metaphorically—and still want to get up and give each other a hug at the end of the day. We can disagree in a way that two people who respect each other can. And when it feels like a true partnership, you do. I never had brothers. I grew up with women around me always, but what I saw of friends of mine who had brothers—man, they could have the worst fallings-out, but they were always right there for each other. Sometimes I'm calling him crazy, and sometimes he's calling me crazy, but it's never a straight and easy path that leads to good ****. I almost talked myself out of American Hustle.

DETAILS: Really? Seems like the sort of transformative role you live for.
Christian Bale: I often talk myself out of doing things. It was my wife getting on the phone to David. She's done that before, where she's heard me talking for hours and weeks with directors, and then something happens and she'll get on the phone, "You know what Christian's like. Get him to pull his finger out of his ass and he'll be there for you."

DETAILS: What gets your finger stuck in the first place?
Christian Bale: I like doing whatever I'm doing, you know? I'd like to never work again if I could—who wouldn't? But once I start working, or most of the time, anyway—there have been exceptions, believe me—I think, "Oh, right, now I remember what I like about this."

I'm still not sure how bale really ended up with a herniated disc from the weight gain? He must have put it on extremely fast then that his body couldn't really adjust.

His trademark rapid weight-gaining/weight losing aspect might be getting a little more difficult as he gets older now.

I like Bale's description of what it is to have brothers. I've had the most insane falling outs with mine but when push comes to shove, you have each other's back.

J-Law getting Bateman's seal of approval only ups her fanboy love.

Consider me among the ones who was concerned about her age. Hopefully it does work well in the end and it wont bug me when i watch the movie because it worked :yay:

He also slumped to look shorter. The bad posture didnt help.
