Sequels David Tennant as Carnage

I dunno; I love Tennant and I think he would do better off as the Riddler in Nolan's BatMan world. However, I think either Vincent Cassel, Paul Bettany, or someone else I can't think of would be awsome as Carange.

1. Carnage is a terrible character, if you can call him that, that represents everything bad about the comics in the 1990s.

2. He does not belong into a movie.

3. People who get on a high horse bemoaning the "horror" that these movies are made to be kid friendly needs to take a good LONG look at the source material. All the great and even just decent stories and the essence of the character has never been "adults only" save maybe Kraven's Last Hunt, which can be done as a blueprint with a PG-13.

P.S. I never liked the character of Venom, but last time I checked he wasn't a serial killer but a psychopath who occasionally killed and whined about it afterwards. I'd say Venom was more "crazy serial kill-ish" in SM3.

Hey, I know that the comics mostly carries a PG sometimes PG-13 rating, but I feel that the movies should be the one medium, where they (Marvel) can really push the envelope further than the comics. Spider-Man needs at least one outlet where his villains and stories can really cut loose. I'm tired of watered down material, and writing that succeeds in not offending soccer moms. For the most part I don't even see Spider-Man films as PG-13 films, they seem more like PG films, especially after seeing The Bourne Ultimatum. Kids would still love these films and buy their damn toys, hell, they'd probably like it more for not talking down to them.

I'm not saying that the writing can't be more mature. I think the dialogue is very MPAA-friendly in these movies and def. could be more naturalistic and adult-sounding.

With that said the essence of the character is that he is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and shouldn't have to become extremely dark or violent. Comics are much easier to break loose in for Spidey. It's serialized fashion gives more room to experiment and play around with it and releasing a single story arc or limited series that puts Spidey in a darker realm (Spider-Man: Reign, anyone?) can be done. But on film it is an expensive venture so I understand why from a business perspective they keep the movies family friendly, but at the end of the day the character is. He may push the boundaries of superhero stereotypes, but he was never meant to be an adults-only character. Comics allow much more freedom to explore this than the finite nature of cinema (even billion dollar franchises) provides, not to mention business risks.

But I don't think violence wise a Spidey movie needs to be any more grim than the final battle between Spidey and GG in SM1. That scene pushed PG-13 limits, but wasn't the centerpiece of the movie, even if it was the climax. I am for a more mature set of films that embraces naturalism as opposed to Raimi's love for melodrama, but I don't think we need an R-rated Spidey. Batman--yes, Spidey--no.

Besides, Carnage still sucks as a character, though.

What a weird saying "friendly neighborhood" I hate that saying, does it even make sense?

Anyway, a much more mature Spider-Man movie, at least in my mind, would still have him as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (none of that would change). But the villains, New Yorkers, thugs, dialogue, fight scenes, inside the Daily Bugle and Peter's relationships is where you would see more mature elements. In fact, this would make Spider-Man's and sometimes Peter's banter stand out even more. But I wouldn't dare do this, if Peter himself and the situations around him doesn't mature. And even then the banter would be timed accordingly.

A more mature tone? Yes, but mature does not equate to darker and I do not know why a SM movie would ever need to be rated R.

I do, the villains. For once, I really would love to hate a Spider-Man villain and not feel sorry for him. With the brutal and graphic fight scenes thrown in there for good measure. These are super-powered beings, and I'd like for it to actually look like it in battle. I want viciousness.

While I do find him pretty cool, I honestly think Carnage is useless. Just make Venom a cold blooded killer that hypocritically rants about protecting innocents (while he doesn't really care) and that's all you need.
And I know that's not Venom from the comics... but the Venom from the comics was lame.

I want to see Venom in this new series,but I don't think Carnage will ever enter anyone's minds. I have a feeling he'll be saved for the Venom spinoff.
