I figured we could use a thread to discuss everyone's favorite jilted brother/son/champion.

It's my personal hope that Davos has a pseudo Darth Vader arc the first season, wherein he begins as a henchman or subservient figure, perhaps to Meachum, who we learn more about during the season, perhaps leading to a revelation to casual goers to his origin midway. More than anything, however, I want Davos to be emotionally sympathetic, or at least understandable.

As they've already seeded the Steel Serpent, I don't think we can, nor should we at all, discount the drug operation from DD season 1. it makes complete sense for this to be element of his own work, or with a third party such as Madame Gao, outside of the eyes of Harold. I stated previously in another thread that I believe Davos would work best as a man who feels he has no recourse but to fight against the outside world to protect his homeland, and his drug operation can certainly be part of that. If you show that he feels denied his right and his duty to protect his city, you have a fantastic and weird perversion of the kung fu movie trope of the destined protector. The Hero's Journey, denied. A man who didn't want to be evil, but will work the work of monsters to destabilize one world to ensure the safety of his. Make him sympathetic, make him reluctant, make him better. We do not know the exact time line, but theoretically, depending on how long Danny has been away, and the events in which Davos left his homeland occurred before the events of the first season of Daredevil. With this in mind, it is certainly feasible that his journey has already started and hit a point in which it makes perfect sense that he has a power base, which we have clearly seen.

This, to me, leads itself to Davos being the final villain and killed at the end of season one, and should there be a season 2, I would expect and enjoy it to be centered around the Immortal Weapons and a certain tournament. During season 2, you could certainly have the Steel Phoenix emerge, a resurrected Davos, who then embarks on a slight journey of redemption.

Now, per casting, I have no idea. I do believe that he needs to be a very tall and well-built man of Asian descent, who does look physically imposing. I admit to not having a large depth of knowledge in this regard. Ultimately though, the actor must be able to pull off disgraced and disgruntled without being whiny.

I think we have no idea that Davos will be in the show yet. I mean yeah, the Steel Serpent symbol showed up in Daredevil, but we don't have confirmation yet he will be in the show. They might go in a completely different direction for Iron Fist's bad guys.

Fair point, but surely hurts no one to argue, discuss, theorize, predict or suggest!

OK just to theorize, let's say Davos is in the show. Should Davos/Steel Serpent be an elder warrior to Danny Rand or someone closer to his own age, maybe another candidate for Iron Fist?

FYI in Ultimate Spider-Man, Scorpion was revamped as Rand's nemesis and rival for the title of Iron Fist in K'un L'un. He rebelled and became the Scorpion villain. He's never given the name Mac Gargan though.

WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING, not Scorpion. Ew. Leave him to Spider-Man, where he belongs.

Maybe a few years older, in appearance, but I could live with the whole 'slightly immortal' thing, where he doesn't really age. It depends if they want to tie the pair together like brothers, as he was with Randall (IIRC). Personally, I just like the idea that Davos lost the right to be the Iron Fist, or was deemed unworthy, and thus leading to his corruption. If Danny needs a 'K'un-L'un' ally or friend to grow with, despite how new she is in the comics, Sparrow. A BA blind kung-fu girl is probably the closest to a foil I will accept for Danny if Misty isn't in the picture, even after their exceptionally limited interaction, considering.

Davos the Pizza hater :cwink:

Sacha Dhawan was an interesting pick to play Davos. Davos in the comics is usually depicted as being significantly bigger and more intimidating than Danny. Dhawan is a smaller guy.

I liked the shows characterization of Davos. They had his jealousy of Danny but they the friendship relationship also added a betrayal motivation to his reason to despise Danny.

Davos reminded me of Baron Mordo in a way.

I liked him. Thought his performance and material were good... Until the last two episodes where just like evetything els on the show his character got swalled up by the show's lack of focus an identity.

I think what they did with Davos was an interesting start, but could have done with more exploration. Much like anything K'un-lun related it was only seen beiefly here and there.

Also like I've said in the costume thread I'd also like to see Davos have a costume and his tattoo.
