Visually, Burton's Apes was a delight. Make-up, production design, everything.... it's the story that made everything turn to crap.

Honestly, as good as the CGI is with the new movies, I do sometimes wonder what kind of magic we'd be getting from Serkis if he was in ape make-up.
I would've hated an Ape costume, I've always hated actors in Ape costumes. I'm fine with makeup when the Apes are evolved though.

While Serkis certainly has control over his maneurisms and such, has he ever had a role where he has worked through extensive makeup?

Doug Jones is the man when it comes to that kind of thing.

I think Serkis would be able to pull it off...

But now you've got me wanting a POTA movie with Jones in make-up. :argh:

Awww, its ok, Sawyer, we still love you.

New trailer is fantastic. This and Godzilla are my most anticipated.

Between Godzilla, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Interstellar, I may be in love with 2014.

After being surprised by how much I liked the first film, these trailers fill me with a lot of hope.

Loved the new trailer, after thinking the 1st movie looked garbage, it turned out to be amazing and is one of those movies I get the urge to watch every few months.

This looks like the perfect follow up, Caesar looks awesome, as do the rest of the apes, I was very unhappy about losing Wyatt but Reeves is a superb director.

Reeves added that Jurassic Park flair to it and it works wonderfully.

SOMEONE Please tell me the name of the trailer music in the trailer 2 that they released!

Everyone always talks about 2015, but I'm anticipating the movies this year way more than 2015. This, godzilla, interstellar, boyhood, guardians of the galaxy, are my most anticipated.

This looks great. I was ambivalent about this sequel at first; I know Franco is a bit of an oddball but whenever your lead actor refuses to come back for a sequel, I get worried. However, after seeing the trailer, I'm fully on board. Bring on the apes!

I like Franco, but as far as I'm concerned, this cast is stronger than Rise's.

His involvement with the films was driven by his relationship with Rupert Wyat, and he was on board as long as Wyat was. They more or less didn't even include him once Wyat left, not even notifying him that footage that he shot for the first film was going to make an appearance.

I'm fine with him not being in this new film though. He didn't bring much to the table to be quite honest, and then he made an ass of himself ripping on the film on talkshows before it came out.

Franco simply says what he thinks.

Its still kind of a dick move, particularly since the movie is quite good and was ultimately really well received. Then again, if your primary experience with the film is performing scenes with Freida Pinto, I guess you wouldn't think much of the movie either.
