Comedy Roger Rabbit Sequel

Well two years later, and still no talk of a sequel. I really am happy to see it put to rest.

Some movies just don't need a sequel. Roger Rabbit is one of them.

I would love for them to re-release a restored version of the film back in theaters for its 30th Anniversary in 2018, but please, no sequel.

With modern technology R. Rabbit sequel would look insane. Unfortunately, it will be completely sanitized if made.

Exactly. I watched the original the other night and had forgotten how sexualized Jessica was in her first scene. Wouldn’t happen today.

I think a sequel should be released maybe under the Fox banner. I'd like to a sequel set in the 60s or 70s since it would have to deal with the rise of television animation under Hanna-Barbera.

Rights have returned to the creator:
Not sure how good this is for the Disney fans, as they seem to have abandoned any further pursuit of the franchise.

author Gary K. Wolf revealed that he quietly reacquired the rights to Roger Rabbit last year. “I now have back the rights to all my characters, all my books. I can, basically, do my own Roger Rabbit projects,”

So, can Wolf's Roger and Jessica Rabbit going forward, look or sound anything like the established Disney/Amblin movie versions fans are familiar with?
Cause otherwise it's great for fans of Wolf's work, which he now gets to put out as he imagined it, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Disney movie fans will follow.

I'd rather he make an adaptation of the original book "Who Censord Roger Rabbit?"

It's much more dirty and adult.
Apparently they can now do that.
Though I'm guessing it won't be allowed to look anything like the Disney/Amblin version, and be more in line with his own published works.?

Yet Wolf seems to still be appealing to the Disney/Amblin production team? Are they even interested?
“I’d love for Disney to participate in this. We could partner up on this. There’s a core group of people who were involved with the first movie, and I would love to work with those people again. Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Frank Marshall, Kathleen Kennedy. I’d love to have Charles Fleischer come back and voice the rabbit again,” he stated.
He should go to other studious, and see if they want to develop it from scratch, closer to his novels.

Yet without referencing the Disney/Amblin version (look and sound), not sure where the audience for his original independent take on this falls?
Curious to see how he makes a go of it, if (besides the books) it has a second life in other media?

I think Disney was once considering Jessica Rabbit a few years ago while causing a little bit of an uproar because of her change of clothing and role into a detective like Eddie.

Always wanted a stand alone Asphalt Jungle, 5-Man Army, Oceans 11 style; Toon Patrol Heist movie:
Showcasing the 5 Weasels.

Though I believe they came out of Disney, so Wolfe likely doesn't have the rights to do anything further with them.
And don't know if Disney can still develop them independently, as they are tied to the property?
