I have tickets to see this tomorrow but can't go due to prior commitments. Sucks cause this might be my most anticipated movie ever but Thursday is right around the corner.

Score available on Spotify, good stuff

Whats it listed as? Ive searched Michael Giacchino and dawn of the planet of the apes and its not showing up. I live in the US by the way.

Quotes from Reeves about how he took the story in a completely different direction and recentered the film around Caesar a few weeks before shooting was set to start.

Reading what he said about what he wants to get across in this film makes me very excited to see if he pulled it off. He's a very articulate and thoughtful guy.

Love seeing the tv spots over and over,The imagery of the apes with rifles and on horses is so awesome,Probably just a nostalgic feel towards the original movie but still

How do you guys rank the series as a whole?

Planet of the Apes 10/10
Rise of the Planet of the Apes 8/10
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes 7/10
Escape From the Planet of the Apes 7/10
Battle for the Planet of the Apes 6/10
Beneath the Planet of the Apes 4/10

Tim Burtons Planet of the Apes....3/10

Just found out the release date has been bumped up a day down here, so I'll be seeing this in less than 24 hours!

Why would there be a review embargo for this movie?

You're supposed to embargo crappy movies.

Beneath the Planet of the Apes-7.5/10
Escape the Planet of the Apes-7/10
Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes-7/10(weakest of the the franchise yet still underrated)

No way Burton's POTA is underrated.

Take away the impressive make up and there's literally nothing there.

There isn't anything worse than an empty POTA movie with nothing to say.

Oh ok excuse my opinion,I didn't know yours is valid and not mine

Opinion does not = fact.

A-doy.

Planet of the Apes -10\10
RISE-9
Conquest-8.5
Escape- 8
Beneath-7.5
Battle-6.5
Burton- 6

The Burton version isnt good but id take it over some summer movies nowadays.

The Burton film is righteously dumb, but it DOES have great, amazing really, make-up effects. I also appreciate some of the set design, and Tim Roth. That's where the good points end for me.

But it's not the most disappointing film of the series. That would be "Beneath" imo. For it's first half it's nothing more than a shameless retread of the first film. The second half gets more interesting when they actually go "beneath" and it embraces some unique sci-fi, but just as the narrative really starts to pick up the film ends incredibly abruptly.

I think Conquest is really underrated. The budget is noticeably smaller, but I love the very 70s design of everything and the straight up pessimistic tone of it all. It's a really good product of it's time.

Say what you will about the Burton film, but I don't think it's horrible. At best it's mediocre. It's not even Burton's worst film. It's a lot of fun to look at, visually. That makeup work was spectacular, and would you believe it wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for that? Danny Elfman's store was pretty cool too. And while I am no fan at all of the ending (nothing can beat the Statue of Liberty reveal), it is sort of closer to the ending of the book than the original film.

Fun fact about the movie: Tim Roth turned down the role of Snape in the Harry Potter movies to be in it and Mark Wahlberg turned down Matt Damon's role in Ocean's Eleven to star in it. It didn't really hurt Wahlberg's career in the long run, but I'll bet Tim Roth is still kicking himself for that one.

Me too! So excited. Hopefully this is best picture nominee worthy.

"Battle..." is so damn bad. I know it had a limited budget but they could have found a story that was doable on such a budget instead of well the "Battle" which amounted to a few dozen people (and a school bus for some reason)

I don't know about individual ratings out of 10 but for the franchise as a whole I'd go

Planet of the Apes
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
Escape from the Planet of the Apes
Rise of the Planet of the apes
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (although now that I think about it more, tons of bonus points for the mutants.)

Battle for the Planet of the Apes
Planet of the Burton- although dat Rick Baker

Burton's film is an extremely flawed movie with extremely great elements within it. Seriously that makeup work is insane.

I really think Maurice is being built up to be the Lawgiver or at least a version thereof.
